I buy Christian movies to avoid watching violence as portrayed in secular movies and television shows. I don't want to see the dead body of someone who overdosed on heroin (totally unnecessary). God destroyed the world because of violence, so to sit and watch violence for fun and entertainment is endorsing what God hates.
Genesis 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
I can’t watch this again nor give it to anyone else. This movie was dark and depressing, totally unlike the first one.

This film has many of the qualities of it's 'parent film', The Encounter'. It has a different setting and characters (except, of course the Christ character). More action, due to it's plot ( heroine dealing, detectives, etc.). It shows the reaching heart of God to a lost world, but can't be taken as Biblical theology or doctrine. Again, as I stated in my rating of the 1st, there is much deception in our world and many claiming they are 'Christ' (as He said they would). However, many in Muslim countries ( and this takes place in Thailand, I believe) are having dreams and visions of Christ that lead them to His cross, God's only means of relationship to a lost world. Shows the darkness of religion outside the Gospel, the clash for souls, God's mercy on a repentent heart. But, needs clarification of Biblical teaching after viewing. Production not as good as 1st (tougher location). Good acting. Story has to be closely followed, as one character is shown in hindsight flashes, a little confusing. Love Pureflix work, though. Those in the 'street life' may identify better with the story. Light in the darkness.

It was a good movie but would have enjoyed it more with less violence in it. I understand the point of it but use of our imagination may be have sufficient instead of actually seeing it.

This movie has a ton of compromise. This movie will lead believers down the road to destruction. How can you say that someone who overdoses on drugs goes to Heaven? That totally goes against the Scriptures that say drunkards will not enter the kingdom of God. The first Encounter was so good and so simple. This version has a ton of action that is totally unnecessary and looks like the world. I would suggest keeping it simple and not trying to go big budget for the sake of entertaining. Christian movies should be more about the message than about the vanity. I cannot endorse this film or lend it out to friends.

Though I thought this sequel was good, the first movie (Encounter) in my opinion was a bit better and clearer in message. Would watch again and recommend.

I like the movie EXCEPT for [spoiler!!!] the use of 'once saved, always saved' theology. I prefer the first Encounter to this one.
Also, it was a bit drawn-out and long.
Overall it's great for a Christian film, although I probably wouldn't use it to evangelise to non-Christians due to my disagreeing with the 'once saved, always saved' thing.

Sequel to The Encounter. Hits home for drug and alcohol addicted folks. Good movie for anyone as it depicts the real Jesus even in the midst of everyday life today.

Great video. Reminded me of the healing power of Christ that's there for all of us, if we'd only get ourselves out of the way!

I was disappointed with the video. Too many long pauses between things being said between the characters. Muddy sentences and was a little hard to follow. I didn't realize that the son had been killed until Jesus referred to it in a later conversation. Did not seem to have the crystal clear conversations that the first dvd had.

Very good movie...more to the modern day miracles we need to recognize. It was a little harder to watch than the first one.

This movie really attacks some serious issues people face in this world, from the death of a child, a sister, to the drug deals, and buying and selling of girls for sexual purposes...it is fantastic. This really takes a look at God's view of things...and illustrates how God has a plan, purpose, and an intense love for all of us. It really challenged my thinking on things...I think the ending left it wide open for another sequel...and I hope they do one!

Last year, I watched The Encounter and LOVED it. A couple of months later, I had the blessing of interviewing Bruce Marchiano, the man who played Jesus Christ, and that experience just made me appreciate the project even more. And after sharing it with the people at my church and telling my friends about it, each time I did made me grow quite excited for the impending sequel coming out. A part of me, however, was very nervous wondering “What if the sequel stinks?”, well like Escape I had snuck in a viewing of The Encounter 2 on Netflix before it arrived to my mailbox…
The Encounter 2 takes an international setting, in that this story takes place in Phuket, Thailand; seven years after the terrible Tsunami. Like the first movie, there are a set of characters who have their own emotional baggage and are brought together under one roof to talk to Jesus Christ face to face. A resort owner and his wife, a vengeful DEA Agent, a local woman, and Jesus Christ himself are being held hostage by a drug dealer and his body-guard. Despite this hostile situation, this person who claims to be Jesus Christ remains calm and unafraid; even with guns being threatened on him. What will be said? How will Jesus respond to them? And how will the hostage situation turn out? The Encounter 2 for the most part was as great as the original.
Once Jesus was invited into the room by Bruno (the drug dealer) and Charlie (the bodyguard), the mood seemed to fit similarly to the first; one of the things which really made me appreciate The Encounter in the first place. Everything Jesus said and did was theologically sound, and I especially liked what he had to say in regard to death. The acting overall was very good and this had a great story. The only thing I can say is both an upside and a downside is the action scenes they added to this feature. The upside for the action is that it explains why the DEA agent HATES Bruno, but the downside is that it obviously takes time away from scenes where Jesus Christ is interacting with people. Otherwise this is very good, I give this a strong recommendation, and am looking forward to receiving it in the mail so I can share it with friends.
