Gaiam Americas Rise & Shine, Blu-ray

Dreams and determination overcome the impossible! This inspiring documentary about Jay DeMerit begins with his desire to play soccer in Europe, a passport, and a backpack full of hope. Painting houses and eating beans to survive, he started playing in public parks, went through semi-pro clubs, and finally entered the English Premier League for the 2010 World Cup. Dove approved. Approx. 92 minutes.

Jay DeMerit is a great soccer player and an inspiration for those that go for their dream and never stop. The movie was a poor attempt to capture his story. It flowed like a high school or college production that someone went around with a camera and interviewed Jay and people who knew him. There was no consistant theme and the transitions between the multitude of interviews never flowed well.
Worst of all, I was expecting it to be a soccer movie, but there was maybe 5 minutes worth of soccer clips. I bought this because there are so few Soccer movies and was hoping to have a story about striving (and achieving) your goal with lots of soccer scenes and a consistent Christan theme underlying the story. Unfortunately, none of those items were met.
If you want a dry documentary at the High school or community college level, then this is for you. It is not the story I was hoping to purchase.
