This is a traditional grammar book without the bells and wistles so many publishers today think kids need. I have used the entire series for my three older kids and plan to continue for my last two. It is intended to be a jr high and high school program. Some kids need more time while others can master it at a younger age. I have had one who did the books at the recommended age, one who did them two years early and one who is two years behind. It is directed at the student so very minimal mom time is needed. This program gave my kids the skills needed to be effective written communicators.

This was an extremely difficult book for my children. My 7th grader just couldn't do it my two 9th graders do it but I have to constantly help with the answer key as the so called "lessons" are very confusing. We will not beusing this book next year and as for my 7th grader we are doing daily grammar lessons online to supplement. I am not sure how much farther in the book my 9th graders will get but I am on the hunt for supplements.

I started this book last year, and it is by far the most confusing grammar book I've ever tried. I struggled through it for a while, but when I got to the diagramming I gave up. Right now I'm doing Switched-On-Schoolhouse's Langauge Arts series, which is very clear and interesting.
