I had Dr. Hoehner in an Ephesians Exegesis Class at Dallas Theological Seminary and this same material was richly presented. Since getting the book, I've found much of his class material richly expounded in this text. This is phenomenal resource from probably one of the top scholars on the book of Ephesians. I highly recommend this title for detailed analysis of the text and for preaching as well as he captures the flow of the entire epistle with detailed outlines throughout. A must have for teachers and preachers.

This is definitely the industry STANDARD for all Ephesian commentaries. It is extremely thourough and indepth on exegesis of the Scriptures and surprisingly easy to follow, even if you haven't had formal training in Greek. I also have the Pillar Ephesians commentary by O'Brien which second only to this one and is an excellent companion to this one. As a pastor, it's great to have superb resources such as these on the book of Ephesians. I can't recommed them enough!!!!!

There is no question about it. This is simply the best on Ephesians, especially on chapter 3. Well worth every cent. It is impressive, detailed, and extremely helpful to any student of this great epistle. It will be the standard for years to come.

I have waited for this particular commentary ever since it was announced (originally as part of the BECNT series). My expectations have been surpassed. Everything that one would desire in a commentary is present in full force. I own every major commentary on Ephesians, including Barth, Lincoln, Bruce, Stockhardt,Best, and O'Brien. Hoehner has outstripped them all in terms of comprehensiveness. The physical presentation is attractive, the layout inviting, the interaction with the secondary literature engaging and thorough. Only O'Brien compares in terms of exegetical scrutiny within an evangelical tradition. If you can own only one commentary on Ephesians, this is the one. I do not envy Frank Theilman, who has now been given the assignment to write the volume on Ephesians in BECNT. All future Ephesians commentaries will seem superfluous.
