Mystery and intrigue dodge Rachel Isaacs on her ranch in Dogwood, Texas after the death of her father in August 1885.
Rachel found Travis Campbell to be the most high-handed, presumptuous and infuriating man she had ever met, but by the time she realized this, it was far too late. She was already in love with him and couldn’t imagine a life without him.
Kate Lowell unknowingly stepped into a life of mysterious secrets when she offered to tutor handsome McCall Adams son, right before she was to leave Dogwood Texas in October 1885 and return to an empty life in El Paso, Texas.
Magnolia Alexander’s uncle is murdered and Travis Campbell’s brother is shot on a stagecoach he is riding at gunpoint by two female bandits in June 1886.
September 1886 in Rusk, Texas finds Noah Thorndyke sitting on death row wondering who the real Rupert Denham on the Wanted poster is, knowing that it’s a case of mistake identity.
It is the beautiful and gracious cousin of Rachel Isaacs Campbell who is willing to risk her job and her reputation in order to hide and care for Noah until he becomes well.
All four stories are gently intertwined, with some of the main characters being in all of them. These stories are all peppered with humor and a touch of sadness, as well as lots of suspense, mystery and intrigue. It keeps the reading guessing at all times at what the ending is going to be.

This book was an easy read. The stories were short and well written. I always enjoy Tracie Peterson stories and this was not a disappointment

Since I'm from Texas, I had to read this one.I really love the Barbour books with the 3 or 4 related stories. The characters on the whole were well-developed. There was plenty of excitement and action along with the romance to please a lover of westerns

I enjoyed the ranch and small town settings in these stories. Most of the depictions seemed valid, and the stories had something besides an impossible romance to keep them moving. Their struggles with their faith seemed believable. Thank you to the authors.
