Along with Broyles' offering on the Psalms, Achtemeier's commentaries on Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah and Micah rate as the best OT offerings in this series. The NIBC / UBCS commentary format often seems prone to encouraging lackadaisical efforts from some contributors. Achtemeier, however, as one comes to respect from her, provides penetrating, engaging and very readable commentary on the first six (so called and anything but) Minor Prophets. Achtemeier profoundly respects the text as God's Word and it shows.
