John1717Brantford, ONAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent CommentaryApril 17, 2012John1717Brantford, ONAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have bought a number of commentaries on the Gospel of John. This is my favourite one. It is a technical commentary but I feel it adds the most value for my purchase. In difficult passages it fairly presents all possible interpretations and then defends a favoured interpretation. I highly recommend this commentary. For 1,600 pages this is a steal.

ThankfulLaguna Hills, CAAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Thorough and EnlighteningMarch 6, 2019ThankfulLaguna Hills, CAAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have been studying John for almost 50 years. During that time I have read virtually every major work published. From my perspective, this set checks more boxes than anything else. It is exemplary.
I have always believed that to understand any portion of Scripture, a full exploration of context is critical. Keener has taken this practice to a new level. He paints with a broad and full brush, examining every conceivable aspect of the historical and cultural world into which this Gospel was born. It is a magnificent read.
If that were not enough, his exegetical insights are also acute and thoughtful. This is a feast that truly satisfies. I know of no study of this Gospel that I value as highly.
