Deuteronomy records Moses' parting words to Israel's new generation on the brink of the Promised Land. He recounts their history, sets before them God's covenant and laws, and instructs them on being God's people in the world. The author passionately explains this theological book, with a particular eye toward the implications for faithful living and witness in our own day.

Review 1 for Deuteronomy: Understanding the Bible Commentary Series
Wright's commentary is one of the better works on Deuteronomy. It is conservative and insightful. It includes a high view of the Bible as the authoritative word of God and as literature. It is an easy read for the most part. Some scholarly concerns are addressed in end notes, but this is not the major focus of the commentary. It makes plain the meaning of the text with an eye toward ethical and spiritual application. I highly recommend it.
