Loved this book! It is a story about infidelity and how it affects the other family members. It is more like a real-life story. It is funny and sad at the same time.

I had never heard of this author but the price was right so I thought I would give her a try and I am so glad I did! I loved this book and wanted more when it ended. I hope that some day Karen Souza will make a sequel so that we can know how their lives end up.

I am thrilled to have picked up this novel by Sharon Souza! She created such a vivid story, with characters so real, you feel as if you've seen this before in your own life. With such quiet honesty, you can almost hear the whisper of questions from your own heart to the One who created it.

I'm delighted to have found author Sharon Souza. She weaves a great story and creates phrases that take my breath away. I very much enjoyed her first novel, Every Good and Perfect Gift. In Lying on Sunday we journey with Abby as she walks though an ultimate betrayal while balancing her emotions to keep her daughters from knowing what kind of man their father really was. Souza creates believable characters and puts them into interesting situations. What more could you want in fiction?

Sharon Souza has written another lovely book by taking difficult life situations, endearing characters, flawed judgments, and combining them with a great story into a wonderful novel. Abbie Torrington's life changes in a matter of minutes on her daughter Becca's eighteenth birthday. A phone call from a hospital informs her of her husband's heart attack while with another woman, and a knock on the front door serves her with divorce papers. Her mother's heart longs to protect her daughters from the knowledge their father was living a second life before his death. Abbie decides to keep his infidelity and suit for divorce a secret. AS she mourns his death and deals with her broken heart, she begins a gradual change into a new woman which disturbs her family. There will be moments you want to sit and cry with Abbie, and times you want to scream at her to stand up for herself and tell the family about Trey's affair. This story draws you in and makes you laugh, cry, love, hate, and learn about forgiveness and healing.I highly recommend this book for anyone whole loves to read about real situations, real characters and God's grace through difficult circumstances.

One of the marks of a truly satisfying novel is that it draws you into the fictional world and makes you want to accompany the protagonist, no matter where the road may lead. Sharon K. Souza is a deliberate craftsman -- or better said craftswoman if there be such a word -- of plot and word. She creates dramatic tension not just by setting up stressful situations but by having her protagonist, Abbie, exercise restraint in the way that we, as our best selves, would want to do. Abbie becomes our proxy in a situation none of us would want to face, but does it with decency and humanity because she won't let the situation define her. When I finished this novel, I felt I had passed a difficult testing along with Abbie; and regretted not being able to accompany her further. Kudos to Souza for creating characters to care about -- and miss.Latayne C Scottwww.latayne.comhttp://www.novelmatters.blogspot.com

Sharon K. Souzas Lying on Sunday broke my heart! I was thrust into the horror of the main character, Abbie, dealing with the death of her husband at the same time she discovered his infidelity. This novel was both heartbreaking and inspiring, as well as beautifully written. I laughed and cried and invested in and loved these characters right to the final page and beyond. This was a difficult journey, but this author has a God-given gift for dealing with difficult circumstances and all of the tiny details that go along with it. The book made me think quite a bit about how I deal with tragedy and how I would like to deal with it in the future.

What if your husband died in another womans bed while supposedly on a business trip to a different place? Moments later you are served with divorce papers. You never had a clue he was unfaithful or wanted to end the marriage. Your college age daughters, mom and dad are on their way to celebrate a family birthday, and you have to tell them something, but not that. Not what theyd never believe in a million Sundays. This is the powerful start to Lying on Sunday. Theres more to heal in Abbie Torringtons new life than lying infidelity.Author Sharon K. Souza presents a flawless and triumphant study in the fine art of friendship and how to unravel the difficult mother daughter relationships weaving through three generations. As for forgiving her husbands betrayal and looking for the other woman . . . Souza skillfully mixes in unexpected revelations, a sassy best friend, a man of growing interest and a fictional authors life story to create a swirling story batter thats deeply satisfying. Lying on Sunday will tug at your heart, make you laugh, sigh, exclaim, and even weep for joy. Well done and highly recommended.

I just finished Lying on Sunday. I ignored the advice of a friend who told me to read it on the weekend, 'because once you start you won't be able to put it down.' She was right. Although I have had 2 very late nights in the middle of the week I don't regret it. This story had everthing. It was a well laid story line, giving you just enough information to keep you reading even after your eyes cross. Abbie's world seemed perfect both to her and to all those around her. Even her Mother and daughters saw no flaw. The only one that seemed to have a clue that it wasn't all it seemed was her best friend and we all need a best friend like Shawlie. Abbie's life is changed forever when a phone call from a hospital in the wrong city interupts her perfect plans. Death, divorce, betrayal, strained relationships and disfunction revealed in this story for the hurting and searching heart. Abbie tries to balance grief and protection of her "perfect illusion" for her family, but makes several missteps as she is also finding a new voice and life for herself. There's humor, adventure, tears and moments of seeing yourself in Abbie or one of the other characters. A great book I highly recommend to anyone who wants to have your heart touched with truth and find a new freedom because of that touch.

When I read Sharon Souzas first novel, Every Good and Perfect Gift, I was so drawn in with feelings of empathy for Gabby and DeeDee that I felt they were my personal friends. Sharon has done it again in her second novel, Lying on Sunday. My heart broke for Abbie Torrington and all that she was called to endure. Her hurt and feelings of betrayal mixed with the frustration of forced secrecy were so real I wanted to call her or write her a note to offer moral support. Through this sometimes agonizing, but notably humorous and uplifting story, Sharon reminds her readers that no matter how deep the hurt or how intense the betrayal, healing is possible and treasure can be claimed from trash. Lying on Sunday is a compelling read.

Abbie Torrington thought she had it all. The "perfect" life turned out to be the perfect lie. In one day she is served with divorce papers and within hours is notified of her husbands death under less than ideal circumstances. Everything she had thought was true, was not. As her life begins to unravel and she desperately tries to shield her two daughters from the truth, Abbie slowly and painfully peels back the layers of her life and begins to reclaim her confidence and inner strength. She realizes that she was living for her husband and children and had lost herself somewhere along the way. She had given in and given up, happy with the status quo. Abbie begins a quest to find out who she is, what she wants out of life and what she really believes, about God, healing, trust and forgiveness. She learns the true meaning of friendship and grows in her relationship with her daughters and her God. I highly recommend this book. It was an inspirational and powerful read all about how "the truth shall set you free". Sharon Souza did a wonderful job of tapping into the raw emotion and frailty that every woman feels who has been disappointed and even betrayed. Her prose flowed with emotion and if I wasn't laughing, I was near tears or biting my nails to see what would happen next. The ending was just right. It was filled with hope and left me wondering how Abbie would go forward. Pick up your copy today. You won't be disappointed.

Abbie Torrington is confronted with the death and divorce of her husband on the very same day. Not wanting to hurt her daughters, she keeps the divorce and his affair a secret. As a reader, I really felt as if I was journeying with Abbie, through heartbreak, confusion, and obligation to her daughters. Her struggle to become her own person after years of following her husbands rules is inspiring and quite comical. The realistic description of hurt and betrayal plunged me into Abbies experience. Abbie learns that although it may hurt, the truth shall set you free. And indeed it did. Her inner strength to seek the truth and to shed her fears of moving on is inspiring. She discovers the importance of friendship and family, and what it means to let go. Rooting for Abbie as she grows into a more independent, confident woman is inevitable. Her insights on life are refreshing and I am refreshed along with her. I can truly say this book has changed my outlook on forgiveness and friendship. This novel is great and anyone who reads it will be glad they did!

I am once again amazed at Sharon's ability to tap into all of my senses in her story telling. The characters in Lying on Sunday are so real, you can find someone you know in each of them. A journey of self discovery for Abbie, finding strength, from family, her best friend, and ultimately the Lord.

Sharon K. Souza has really done it this time! I honestly could not put this book down. I finished it in two days and was sorry when it to came to an end. The author successfully planted a niggling little issue I just had to solve, which I finally did towards the very end of the book. It played like a fish chasing a worm on a hook for me. The character Abbie is truly a treasure in earthen vessel surrounded by numbers of other characters who bring both support and complexity to the issues she faces in the loss of her husband. As Abbie is rawly slapped in the face with the reality of her husbands secret life, she begins a very slow healing. True to human nature, the healing is a series of revelations where Abbie finds herself almost faceless and without idenity from living a life controlled by her husband for so many years. A combination of both suppressed emotions and new found anger spur a passion in Abbie that many a reader will relate to. Both Abbies controlling mother and controlling daughter keep alive the haunting spirit of a husband that Abbie is now trying to purge out of her heart and memory. Abbies spunk throughout this book will engage your own heart. Her pain and her successes are so humanly believable. You will laughyou will cry and find yourself rooting for her all the way to the end of the book. If you are getting ready to buy a book, make it this one!Kathie M. BaderP.S. I wonder if Trey prepared any little charts for Miss San Diego to live by? Its worth reading the book to learn what I mean by this.
