Personally, I think the Pulpit Bible Commentary series is one of the Best available in the English language. And for the price that it is made available at CBD, its a real gain. Buy this set and use it regularly, you'll hardly need anything else. The combination of exegetical and expositional comments make this set most valuable. I would highly recommend the Pulpit Bible Commentary set.

The Pulpit Commentary has been a standard for many years. My pastor had one almost 60 years ago. The volume of Acts and Romans is exceptionally well done starting with book introductions which explain chronology in detail. The flow of Acts is at times difficult for the most mature student of the Bible and the writers comments will guide the reader to the best possible answers. The Exposition explains the nuisances of the Greek which may escape the casual reader. The homilies while used for some as sermons are a wealth commentary to aid each teacher to develop well rounded and biblically correct sermons. Volume 18 exegetes Acts and Romans. The latter is well done. The author does not waste words and get to the point quickly and with clarity. This is one of the better books the writer has used on Romans. After using the Pulpit Commentary one understand its continuing value
