Baker Books When Skeptics Ask: A Handbook on Christian Evidence

The authors write: "Before we can share the Gospel, we sometimes have to smooth the road, remove the obstacles, and answer the questions that are keeping that person from accepting the Lord." The objections unbelievers raise are usually not trivial. They often cut deep into the heart of the Christian faith and challenge its very foundations. If miracles are not possible, then why should we believe Christ was God? If God can't control evil, is He really worthy of worship? These are reasonable questions which deserve reasonable answers. Fortunately, Christian thinkers have been answering these questions ever since Paul's time, and we can draw on their knowledge to help us find the answers we need.

Geisler, with decades of experience studying and writing about biblical difficulties (along with Brooks), subdivides each larger issue (archaeology, afterlife, evil, etc.) and deals with associated questions in each chapter. Helpful charts, sidebars, lists and diagrams pepper the text, which, even after 20 years, still represents much of what Christians have used as explanations of the faith since the time of the New Testament church. A classical apologetics approach (as opposed to the popular presuppositional approach, among others), When Skeptics Ask presents the old-earth creationist position on protology and uses a mix of practical logic and scriptural truth to support its answers.

This book presents nearly the whole range ofChristian Apologetics in a very organized and systematicQuestion and Answer Format. The organization ofsystematization of the Questions and Answers iswhat gives this book its unique strength. This bookassumes that the unbeliever is a rock-solid atheistand moves from theistic proofs to historical evidencesto a logical conclusion for the truth of Christianity.Excellent book for college students and seriousskeptics of Christianity since Geisler makes a very compelling case for Christianity to the rock-solid atheist.
