Very good book. Read it in two days, I could not put it down. I think it should be mentioned that Indivisible is the first book between Indivisible & Indelible. I read Indelible first, then read Indivisible. I actually went back and read Indelible a second time, because I now knew where some of the characters had been and how they evolved. Even though they are not main characters in the second book.

I finished reading this book a few weeks ago and I must say, of all the books I've read for the Blogging for Books program, this may have been may favorite. Indivisible was a great read! This book had it all for me. An element of romance, suspense, faith and mystery. I found myself drawn to several characters and each for different reasons. Tia and Jonah were my favorites both for the people they were and for the strongholds they were each battling in their own lives. I also liked Miles. At first you want to find him kind of creepy and scary but the more you get to know and understand him you come to love him just as Piper does in the story. With this book I ended up with dog eared pages, notes and underlining because not only was it a good read, it had a good message and that is one of the reasons I most love Christian fiction. It is entertaining but it also encourages and helps me in my faith by drawing me into the Christian walk of the characters. I found myself checking out the Internet to see what other Kristen Heitzmann titles I might like to read next!

If you’re looking for classic Kristen Heitzmann, you won’t find it here. Darker and edgier than her other works, this crime drama is not for the faint of heart. As Police Chief Jonah Westfall looks into animal mutilation, rising drug traffic, and his past, he finds that things are not always what they seem.
This suspense novel was well-written and kept me guessing, but it was not as purely enjoyable as Heitzmann’s other novels. It somehow felt odd. Having said that, it did get better as it went along and I was just curious enough to want to know what happened. Fans of the TV series Criminal Minds might like it for its psychological thriller feel.

I read this book after I read "Indelible" so I was at a little bit ahead of the game since I basically already new what was going to happen to the characters. I did like getting to know these characters a little bit better since they were all in "Indelible". It was nice to see how the relationship between Piper and Miles started. I enjoyed reading it although the drug dealers part of the story was a little confusing to me and seemed to be a bit disjointed.

Chief of Police Jonah Westfall is puzzled over 2 raccoons found with limbs cut off, with the two then sewn together where the limbs were cut. Later, two cats were found in the same area, same thing had happened to them. Why would someone do this to innocent animals? With this, and Westfall’s issues with Tia Manning, things are getting difficult for Westfall. The two cannot get over their not so good past, and keep hurting one another as time goes by. Something has got to happen. And Westfall needs to find out who is attacking these animals. And why.
This is a good action fiction thriller that keeps you turning the page until the end. It has several twists and turns and it’s difficult to figure out what the outcome is. The author created unique characters and intertwined them in the story, giving you a feel that you were part of the action. I like her style of writing, mixing mystery, suspense, a few gruesome scenes, and excitement until the end. Grab a copy of this book by Kristen Heitzmann and settle in for a good read.

This book could be categorized as a romance novel, mystery, or psychological thriller. Its a story of hurting hearts and redemptive lives, but wrapped in a package of a quaint Colorado town full of drugs and intrigue. Police Chief Jonah Westfall is trying to fix a broken relationship, take down a drug ring and solve a mystery of disturbing proportions.
I have read a few of Kristen Heitzmann's books and was excited to read a new one, but was slightly disappointed in this one. It took me awhile to get into it because there are so many characters that she introduces at the beginning so it was hard to keep up. This book also had less of a spiritual side then some of her other books. But, once I got into the story it was hard to put down. And the ending was creative and relieving yet dark and sad. I was content with how all the characters I finally got to know finished their stories.

Indivisible is a suspense/thriller that will keep you riveted until the end. Kristen Heitzmann is an amazing author who is able to create believable characters that stay with you long after you finish the story. There are some difficult scenes describing cruelty to animals, but they are integral to the plot and well handled.
I found it breathtaking. The characters are so vivid, I feel like I met them. The plot was tightly crafted yet each principal was well-developed. In just a few words, Kristen was able to create worlds of pain. In spite of this, her characters were not defeated. Each was living out their faith in a tough world, but the book wasn't preachy. With friendship, love, mystery, suspense, forgiveness and redemption, this book had it all. Altogether, "Indivisible" is the most satisfying read I've had in a long time.

I'm gonna be honest. I chose this book from WaterBrook Press using a completely non-intellectual decision making process. The cover intrigued me. Why would a suspense novel have a needle and red thread on the cover? Hmm...that alone was interesting enough for me to make the choice to read this novel by Kristen Heitzmann. My contrived selection process paid off with a fantastic storyline.
A tiny mountain setting with realistic characters quickly captured and held my attention. From Jonah, the brooding sheriff, to Piper with the questionable family, I met some authentic people on the pages of Indivisible. I especially loved cranky old Sarge and Miles, the germaphobe. The author wrote characters that came to life for me. If walking through the town of Redford, I know I'd meet up with Jonah, Tia, Piper, Sarge and Miles.
As the story unfolds, someone is mutilating animals and leaving them around town. Though mutilation sounds gruesome, the author does an exemplary job of detailing this horrific act without grossing out the reader. As new characters enter the story, I immediately became suspicious, looking for clues that might indicate they were indeed the mutilator. I loved that I needed to keep reading to find the answer. Typically, I can solve the crime midway through a book. I'm delighted I did not have definitive proof until the author wanted to make the revelation known.
What I loved most about this novel is the flawed characters who rely on their faith to get them through. While the storyline was finished, the characters are not. I'd love to meet them again and see what life in Redford is like for them today.
If you like mysteries and suspense novels that leave out the cussing and gratuitous scenes, yet are meaty enough to hold your attention, I encourage you to read Indivisible. I look forward to finding more of Kristen Heitzmann's novels to add to my bookshelves.

Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann.
This book started out slow, but I was determined to finish, and I'm glad I did.
Heitzmann did a great job of intertwining the lives of the characters in the story and gives readers a glimpse of their past to keep you guessing. All of the main characters in the book have had to overcome hurdles from their past, which makes them either stronger in their faith, or introduces them to the faith. There is some reference of cruelty to animals as the mystery and suspense of the story builds, but there is also a great part about a normally wild animal that learns to trust humans and adds a great touch to the story.
This book is not very strong in the Christian aspect. Some of the characters go to church, and Tia runs a Hopeline which gives moral and even Christian advise to its callers, but there are not many scripture references, other than a few chapter quotes.
I enjoy reading mystery books and after getting past the slow start, this mystery really kept me intrigued to the end.

“Indivisible” by Kristen Heitzmann is a dramatic novel about new beginnings and mending broken relationships. Police Chief Jonah Westfall has got some serious skeletons in his closet. A fatal confrontation with a family member has got him estranged from his family. A betrayal of an ex-fiance has him at odds with the only woman he's REALLY ever loved, who's been living across town and avoiding him for the past nine years. Now he has to grapple with these personal demons whilst investigating repeated acts of bizarre violence towards animals. The calculated, careful deeds suggest that a psychopath may be on the loose – and Jonah is determined to get to the bottom of it before the perpetrator escalates to more than just animals for prey.
This book was definitely an interesting read. It was not just your typical murder mystery – Heitzmann really put some thought into the crime and the motivations behind the perp. I figured out who it was early on – but it could be that she intended for it to be somewhat obvious. I feel like Heitzmann's writing is a cut above many authors in her genre...beautifully crafted prose and AMAZINGLY developed characters. The entire book is complex, with several different plots woven throughout. At times I thought she might have tad too many sub-plots, as often she would abruptly switch the narrative over to a completely different situation that I'd nearly forgotten about. I did like how she introduces several main characters and develops them well, as opposed to the often-standard {hero, heroine, villian and maybe one other supporting role} formula that many novels stick to. Also, I kind of felt like she exhausted me with the constant delving into the most private places of the characters' psyche. Jonah could be chasing a criminal or having a conversation over dinner – and he'd be having flashbacks to a traumatic episode with his father. I do understand that she wanted to show how our childhoods deeply affect who we are as adults – but I felt like having the characters mentally dredging up old hurts all day, every day was a little over the top and distracted from the story at times. Having those past secrets such a integral part of the plot also made things a little hard to follow in the beginning as well. It was hard to really understand any of what was going on when so many catalysts had yet to be revealed.
Overall, however, I enjoyed the book and it definitely kept me turning pages! I have always enjoyed Kristen Heitzmann's writing. It had been a while since I'd read anything of hers so it was a pleasure to be re-introduced. I would certainly recommend it!

Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann is enthralling. As soon as I turned the first page, I knew I was going to have a hard time putting this one down! We are immediately introduced to Jonah, Tia, and Piper and want to learn more about how their lives intertwine. Along the way we meet other characters that take us deeper into the lives of these people and we long for resolution.
Mrs. Heitzmann did a wonderful job of building the characters and keeping several plots going without it being confusing or overwhelming for the reader. You really see how lives are joined together even when you try to separate them. It brings heartache. It brings joy. We are reminded how we are to share the joys, we are to share the heartaches. We are reminded to make Christ the center.

Author, Kristen Heitzmann has written another incredible book. This book was one of the hardest books to put down. Police Chief Jonah Westfall has experienced the dark side of his life battling alcholism. In his town he continues to battle the dark side in gruesome act investigations. Seeking to unmask the perpetrator before the crime escalates and destroys the tranquility of his small mountain town, Jonah fights for answers. Besides Jonah's never-ending conflicts with his childhood friend, Tia Manning whom he has more than a passing history, he has another women in town that is passionate to have all of his attention. But Jonah can't penetrate every wound or secret, especially one fueled by a love and guilt teetering on madness. Kristen Heitzmann has written a spellbinding tale of severed connections and the consequences of lfe lived alone. This book was not a disappointment to read.

It is definitely in the category of suspense! From the very beginning, action keeps the reader’s attention. One tense moment leads to the next. Character development is outstanding. Although there are many characters, each one is distinct. None of them are passive in that they all change throughout the story. Without spoiling it, I can say that Jonah, Miles, Piper, Tia, and the secondary characters each have pivotal moments throughout the story. More than one plot speeds the action along. It’s like reading several mini stories all interwoven into one.
Kristen’s phraseology is amazing. “The breeze titillated the trembly aspen and bore the scent of golden banner and Queen Anne’s lace.” She uses words to describe scenes, emotions, actions in a way that is different and unique.
I expected a Christian novel. What I found is a smattering of Christian philosophy and truths scattered throughout what could otherwise be considered a secular novel. Much emphasis is placed on women throwing themselves at Jonah. References and even flat-out statements regarding sensuality don’t seem to fit the genre. Although no actual foul language is used, more than once a character swears. Whether this is true to life or not, the purpose of a Christian book should be to encourage the reader to aspire to living a more godly life.
The story stirs up the emotions. Getting involved with the problems in each character’s past draws the reader into the emotional aspect of the story. What I found difficult is that there were few places a reader could recuperate emotionally to prepare for the next problem. The characters constantly faced one dilemma after another. If one character dealt with a problem, the next character had a worse problem to deal with.
Part of the ending is unexpected. Another part of it I guessed about a fourth of the way through the book. I’m not sure if the last chapter is supposed to leave the reader with a feeling of contentment since the one plot throughout the story is resolved. However I don’t know how to take the last line of the book. Maybe it was meant to leave the reader unsettled. Maybe I’m just missing the meaning.
Overall, I would recommend this book to most people, but I won’t be putting it in my classroom library for my high school students to read.

As Police Chief Jonah Westfall tries to find answers about his past, and is fighting to stay sober after six years of sobriety, he is dealing with gruesome problems as the chief of police. He just can’t figure out why someone would mutilate a pair of raccoons, and later cats, cutting off limbs and sewing the two together where the limbs were cut. And then there is Tia Manning. The two of them keep hurting each other over and over because of their heartbreaking past together. Will they be able to overcome their past and have a life together? And will Jonah find what is going on with the animal mutilation.
Piper moves into the area, trying to make a new life after leaving her parents and their lifestyle. And then there is Miles, who freaks out and destroys anything around him when someone touches him. Will Piper stay in Redford or will she move around with her parents and fall into their lifestyle? And can Miles overcome his OCD and live a normal live?
Liz is the new Vet in the area, and lives with her sister Lucy. She talks about Lucy, buys things for her, but no one has ever met her. And Liz’s behavior is becoming very strange. Are there things in her past that is causing this strange behavior? And why has no one met her sister?
In this psychological drama, most of the characters are trying to break free of their past. As you follow their story, you feel as though you are right there with them in their struggles. And you want to rejoice with them as they deal with their past struggles and start relying on the Lord and prayer.
My opinion on the 4 or 5 curse words in the book……well…..they could have been avoided. I recently was reading about some authors taking Christian Fiction to the limits, and this was one of the topics. Will it be 4 or 5 now….and then a few more….and then more? Why use them if you don’t really have too? Of course that’s just my humble opinion.
If you like thrillers, suspense and maybe a little graphic stuff, then I highly recommend this book to you. The deal with the raccoons and cats is a bit gruesome, but the author just did a great job in explaining what took place. This is another great read by Heitzmann and I look forward to reading her next book.

I absolutely love to read but am prone to put down any book that seems to be wasting my time. Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann, strangely, did not grab me from the beginning but still compelled me to stick with it to figure out what in the world was happening. The multiple plots, intertwined with the characters' childhood baggage, made it a little difficult to follow at first, but it would have been impossible to not see the characters through to the end. Intertwined are two great love stories that make you feel as if you have become part of them.
Indivisible is not typical Christian fiction. For this review, I received this book free of charge from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Group. All opinions in this review are my own.

My Thoughts
The book for me started out abit slow and that is only because in the 1st few chapters there were many characters and it took a little to get them all figured out, but after that the book was awesome. I love love it and all the characters and loved how they all interacted with each other. I really felt like they were my friend by the end of the book and would love to read more about them in another book. hint hint. And even thought I am an animal lover, the decription of the events had to be described that way and it worked out well and even thought it took me almost to the end to figure it out that was great. This was a perfect read for me. This was a great book and do yourself a big favor and read it, you will not be sorry in my opinion. The book was sent to me free from Water Book Multromah Publishing.

I just finished Indivisible by Kristen Heitzman and was very impressed. I kept going back and forth on whether to pick this book to review and I finally did on the review another blogger did about this book. She said it was a great suspense fiction and she was so right.
I was not disappointed in this story, it was very fast paced with lots of twists that had me guessing. The plot kept me involved with a few surprises which always make for a page turning book. The backdrop of the story is a small Colorado town that had had animal mutations. Were they the result of gang activity or something else?. The sheriff of the town has to find out. The story has than that, there are quite a few characters and each has a past they are trying to escape and find peace. Loved that part of the story the best and how they tried to find redemption. Great Christian book but not a preachy Christian book. If you want a book to curl up on a long winter night-this is the one. Can't wait for her next book to come out Thank you to Waterbrook for sending me this book for my honest opinion.

Twists, Turns, and Suspense

Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann is set in a mountain town in Colorado, and revolves around the relationship of Tia, a local shop owner and lifelong resident, and Jonah, the police chief and also a lifelong resident. These two are both dealing with difficult past family situations, and have a long personal history which is slowly revealed in the book. If you aren't paying close attention you may miss key points in the story and dialogue. Add to this the story lines of Piper -a new resident and employee at the bakery, Sarge - owner of the bakery who must deal with life-changing health problems, Miles - a man afraid of contact with people, and Liz - the new vet in town, and you get a tightly woven story with a good plot that keeps moving along. When several mysterious animal carcasses are discovered around town, Jonah wonders if it is related to gang activity, but it ends up being much more sinister than that. The books ends with a shooting, a wedding, a kidnapping, a confession, and reconciliation! A good read!
