Have you ever wondered just how much God loves us? This cute children's book illustrates just how big God's love is for each and every one of us. While my daughter is still a little too young to understand the words, she loved the illustrations in this book. This story uses concepts every one can relate to in order to show the magnitude of God's love. For example, God's love is "higher than the moon in a starless sky" and "louder than the cheering of a football crowd."
I think Dandi Daley Mackall did an excellent job with this book. I want my children to always know God's love, and this book will be a great way to introduce that love to them. It's an easy read, and one children of all ages can comprehend. Children will be drawn in my David Hohn's amazing illustrations as well. This is definitely a book you should read with your family.

God Loves Me More Than That (Dandilion Rhymes)
Book Review: I have two girls, ages 3 and 5. I sat down with my 5 year old first and let her look through the pictures before I read the book to her. She was extremely excited. "The little boy is having adventures, mommy." This is what she told me when I asked her what she thought the book was about. Unfortunately, once I read the book she seemed disappointed that it wasn't an adventure story after all - though she still loved the pictures.
As a parent, I think the reassuring words about God's love are very sweet. It does seem aimed primarily at boys (treasures, cowboys, football, airplanes, circus pics and more), but the message is rather universal. However, because there is no actual story, but rather more of a poem about God's love, my children likely wouldn't ask for this book to be read to them over and over. Once or twice through and they want you to read them a princess story or Good Night Moon instead. (The latter is a favorite of my youngest.) It left me wondering if a biblical parable about an adventurous boy would reach this age group better - even though it is a wonderful message.
Cover/Illustration Review: The artwork throughout this book is gorgeous. David Holm is very talented, and my children were absolutely mesmerized by his drawings. Both girls enjoyed pointing at the pictures and trying to figure out what sort of adventures the little boy was having. The sneezing kitty was a favorite for my oldest.
I too love the illustrations in this book. They are rich in detail and imagination. I looked forward to turning every page to see what beautiful work was on the next page. This is a great gift book due to its beauty ... and strongly positive message about God's love.

What an excellent book! This book has great illustrations and captured the attention of my two year old son. I love how the book relates God love for us to everyday items that children can relate to. For instance quote from book "Tell me, please, is the Lord's love wide? Wider than a semitruck from side to side." A great read for our son. This book is excellent for a little boy although it could be read to all little children! I would recommend this to families of small children especially with little boys.

When I chose this book to review the first line was given which said: "How much love does God have for me? More than the letters between A and Z."
That led me to the conclusion that this book would be "God loves me as much as I love Apple pie, Babies, Candy," etc.
Nope, not that.
It is a book that gives extremes of how much God loves! Extremes of how far, high, deep, wide and MORE!
He loves "more than bumbles in a bumble bee, softer than the sigh of a summer breeze, or louder than the cheering of a football crowd".
The pictures were extreme also, in a good way. Very colorful and full of fun!
Great book to pick up and reassure your child (and you) that God loves them in unimaginable ways their "whole life through"

"God Loves Me More Than That" by Dandi Daley Mackall is the first children’s book I have had the privilege of writing a review on. David Hohn wonderfully illustrates this book, bringing the book to life for children. Each page is filled with a captivating question and answer along with an eye-catching picture depicting how much God does love us. It is written and illustrated in a way that will keep the child’s attention while answering questions.
My Thoughts: I cannot wait to share this with my grandkids. The 9 year old will be a little old for it, but I think he will enjoy the illustrations and reading it to his little sister. I am sure it will become one of her favorites! This book is a perfect size and would make a great gift for young children or grandchildren.

How do you explain the love of God to a child?
God Loves Me More Than That tries the poetic approach, relating that God loves "me" (the reader),
More than the letters between A and Z. More than the bumbles in a bumble bee.
Yes, though there are, in fact, 24 letters between A and Z, and though "bumbles" are very difficult to quantify,
God loves me more than that!
God Loves Me More Than That is a cute picture book with rhymes that stretch the imagination.
There isn’t deep theology in here; just a message about the love of God* (*which, incidentally, is softer than a kitten’s sneeze).
Another author once hoped for others "to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" (Ephesians 3:18).
Its a big concept, but God Loves Me More Than That is a good start for little minds.

I have to first admit this cover is what made me request this book. This is Butterfly Wishes and Wonderland Dreams but this book is wonderful! This sweet story is full of lots of rhyme and sweet questions. But that isn't all the illustrations on each page make this book a sure winner in our family. I love that this story tell just how much God loves for them runs deeper than a wishing well, softer than a kitten’s sneeze just to name a few from the picture book.
Each question in this book is a 2 page spread. It not only helps your child understand that Gods' love run far, wide, and deep. This book would be perfect for a baby shower gift or a child's birthday gift. We have enjoyed this book and I know that this will be a picture book that will be tattered and worn from all the love.

My copy of God Loves Me More Than That arrived not that long ago, and I enjoyed reading the little “Dandilion rhymes” that told over and over again how much God loves us…more than the buzzes of bumble bees and soft as a summer breeze.
The little rhymes are easy to understand (or explain!) and every single page has an adorable painting featuring a little boy as he asks questions and gets answers about God’s love.
This book is perfect for toddlers and perhaps even as a simple reader for little ones just starting to read on their own, and I think you’ll agree with me that the message and the pictures are so sweet that it will be read again and again. I know I can’t wait to share it with my niece next time she is here, because even though she is a little hard on books still, I know she’ll enjoy the pictures and I want her to never forget that she is very loved…more than anything else, by our God.

First of all what drew me to the book was the beautiful cover. It’s gorgeously illustrated by David Hohn. The illustrations throughout the book are beautiful and work wonderfully with the story.
I loved the different ways someone can describe being loved, especially in a way that a child can understand. How high, wide and deep does God love me? Those are some of the basic ways a child might ask how God loves them so Dandi brings in some fun and sweet ways as well. Is God’s love soft or how loud is His love. Don’t those questions just beg an answer?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish my kids were just toddler or preschoolers.

When my son was little we would have an "I love you more than..." contest.
"I love you more than all the straws in the world!"
"I love you more than all the salt and pepper shakers in the world."
"I love you more than all the blades of grass."
One day he got me.
"I love you more than all the grains of sand, all over the world, in the desert, on the shores and in the ocean!"
That's a lot of love.
I recently found the perfect book for this amount of love. A big love from our great big God!
"God Loves Me More Than That" written by Dandi Daley Mackall and illustrated by David Hohn is a delightful book to share with your babes about the size of God's love for us.
My favorite part of the book is how on the very first page you are met with scripture!
"And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love for Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
Ephesians 3:17-19
This bit of scripture sets the tone for this charming children's book!
The illustrations are filled with whimsy and very pleasing to the children. "God Loves Me More Than That" shows a young boy having merry adventures with every "More Than." For example,when the boy asks, "...how deep is God's love for me?" he is shown scuba-diving underwater, at the bottom of the sea amidst a sunken ship and treasure chest!
This is a lovely book to share with your children just how much God loves us and I know my children will treasure it for years to come!

I’m a new mom. CA is 6.5 months old and already, we, as parents, are wanting to instill in her a love for Jesus Christ and teach and show her just how much she is loved, by us and her Heavenly Father. “God Loves Me More than That” by Dandi Daley Mackall will help us accomplish this great task! With lovely rhymes and beautiful pictures, illustrated by David Hohn, this children’s book teaches young ones that God’s love for them is bigger, wider, higher and deeper than anything they can imagine!
The illustrations in this book are amazing! So warm and clear! And the easy rhyming to the words makes it a fun one to read for the adults and for the little ears! This book can easily be read to boy or girl as it gives examples that each one would enjoy and appreciate. One thing that I wish it would have talked about in the book though is how God loved us so much that he sent his only Son to die for our sins… This book would have been a great way to show God’s love and our need for His love.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book to others with little children. An easy read with lots of fun items to look at on the pages! A great 4 out of 5 stars!!!

I chose to review the book, God Loves Me More Than That, by Dandi Daley Mackall because I have grandchildren and I thought they would enjoy it. This is a very cute book. I enjoyed the story and the illustrations are great.
The story goes throughout asking the question, how much love does God have for me? Each time it is asked a little differently and answered a little differently. This is a story that will help the younger children understand that God’s love for us is never ending. I think any age child would enjoy having this book read to them. I think this would make a great gift. This is also one of those books for grandparents to gather the grandchildren in their laps and read to them. I loved it!

I can honestly say that this is the first children's book I have had the pleasure of reviewing.
God Loves Me More Than That is a poetic children's book written by Dandi Daley Mackall. Mackall compares God's love to different feelings including length, weight, softness and depth to name a few.
This book is absolutely beautiful and heart warming to share with your little one. The words are easy to read and even easy for your little one to learn to read. This book also has simple language for a small child to understand. (Some children's books like to use large words that are beyond a small child's comprehension.)
I can't recommend this book enough. I loved it so much I'm going to be sharing it with the women in our Mommy Life Group. I'm sure that we'll all love it.

This is a fantastic book. We all need to be reminded of how much God loves us and this book does just that! It puts the concept of God's love on the bottom shelf so we all can understand the dept, width, weight and height of God's love. The illustrations are beautifully done. My daughter already has much of this title memorized due to rolling cadences that beg to be read aloud and recited. How much love does God have for me? More than the letters between A and Z More than the bumbles in a bumble bee. God loves me more than that!Those are the words that I overheard my eldest reading to my 2 year old in the bed tonight.The quotation above is the first stanza which provides a repeating form for each following section of verse. Each quatrain ends with the line God loves me than that! Fill in the blank with more than, deeper than, softer than, louder than, bigger than and others! Gods love for us is immense, far larger than we can conceptualize.This title reminds me of a bed-time game I play with my girls, familiar to many parents. I call it I love you more than. We take turns saying how much we love each other; I love you higher than the tallest tree. I say. Well, I love you to the moon and back. My daughter replies. Going on for quite some time, the conversation ends with my concluding remark, But you know who loves you more than even I do? Yes, God! my daughter answers joyfully, she knows the drill. Drawing from this same vein and tradition God Loves Me More Than That makes a perfect addition to family bedtime rituals.Hohns illustration takes Mackalls not entirely uncommon imaginings of Gods love: deeper than a treasure chest beneath the sea, higher than a space shuttle flying by, etc., and takes them in to the realm of the fantastic. Hohn places the little boy who is reflecting on Gods love for him amongst hippos dancing in the rain, on a bumble bees back and as a cowboy on horseback on the range to mention only a few. We are clearly immersed in the realm of the imagination, and are treated to a fantastic voyage through this little boys daydreams.

Always using kid-friendly language and examples, Mackall begins this rhyming book by saying God loves "me" more than the distance between letters A and Z. David Hohn's illustrations add depth and whimsy to this by showing giant letters stretched across the hillside, with a little boy standing on the letter A, trying to see all the way to Z. The author also tells us God loves "me" more than the bumbles in a bumble bee, that his love is higher than the moon or the space shuttle, deeper than a treasure chest in the ocean, wider than a semi truck or the prairies where cowboys ride, louder than a cheering football crowd, softer than a cat's sneeze or a summer's breeze, and more. The book ends: "Lord, it's great to be loved by you. Hope you know that I love you, too. Nice to know that my whole life through. God loves me more than that!"What I Like: I am not always a fan of Dandi Daley Mackall's books, but this book shows her at her best. The text flows easily and describes God's love in a fun and meaningful way. David Hohn's illustrations are superb; they add a lot of imagination to the book and make it all that much more interesting to read. For example, when God's love is said to have more bumbles than a bumble bee, Hohn shows a boy riding on the back of a giant bee. Later, when God's love is said to be deeper than a treasure chest in the sea, he shows the boy in an antique diving suit (a la Jules Vern), finding an old ship with treasure. What wonderful rhythm! My favorite children's books are always the ones with great rhythm that are wonderful riddles full of giggles. This is a great addition of Rhymes to my children's book collection and what a great message. Such a wonderful way to show a child just how much they are loved. So much bigger, deeper, wider, and just plain more than that. Highly recommended.
