Random House, Inc Leaper: The Misadventures of a Not Necessarily Superhero

What would you think if you suddenly woke up one day and had superpower? Would it depend on what superpower you had? And what choices would you make when it came down to it? These are exactly the questions James asks himself when he wakes up and discovers he's got the power to leap... Good or bad? He struggles with figuring out why he's got this new leaping power, but even more so, what is he supposed to do with it? Leaper proves to be the perfect dosage of humor and sentiment.

Leaper: The Misadventures of a Not Necessarily Superhero, by Geoffrey Wood, is a story of a man, James, who is going through a tough period in his life. One day, he finds he has leapt from one location to another. He, of course, doesn’t understand it, can’t control it, and struggles with the idea of whether or not it is actually happening. He questions, how are we to believe in something that makes no sense, that seems impossible? James doesn’t want this gift he’s been given, doesn’t understand how to use it, or why it was given to him.
With an attempt at humor, the author details the life of James, his thoughts, actions, and encounters as he labors with what to do with this gift of leaping he has been given as well as his issues with faith and trust. With that being said, this book did not hold the humor or engagement I expected from the cover blurb. It is my opinion that too much is going on in this story and the reader can get lost in the chaos, possibly missing the underlying ideas the author is trying to convey.

This has to be the most boring book I have ever read in my life. The first three cheapters make absolutely no sense whatsoever. It was a major struggle to get to the end of thge book only to discover the end makes less sense that the 90% before it. If I had paid more than $1 for it I would have been gutted.
The writer lacked flair and enthusiasm; was not able to grip the reader with any of the story and maybe should consider a new vocation as writing simply isn't his stong point.
