Not the best book Dyson has written but still an interesting read. I would recommend it. I rated this book against others she has written so that is why I say it isn't the best. I liked the book and think the majority would also.

I had gotten this inspirational mystery from the library and decided I wanted to add it to my collection. The mystery, itself, I found only so-so; it was the characters, Marcus and Alexandria, who won me over. I like a case to solve, but this one just didn't interest me. I found myself wanting to skip ahead to some more dialogue between the two investigators. With Alex never getting her cliches just right and cleaning her gun collection, Marcus' low-key persona is her perfect match. Would definitely try a sequel.

Suzanne is the perfect example of many people in the media world who will stop at nothing to get the story. Does it matter if it is true? Does it make a difference if the facts are skewed a bit, simply to make the story more sensational? Does the impact on family members and associates of the victim ever come into consideration? Do the people under investigation have any rights or feelings? Sadly, to many reporters, the answer to each of these questions is a resounding, "No!" Unfortunately, Suzanne is a prime example of all that is wrong with many shows and producers who will stop at nothing to get the story, all the while convincing themselves that the "public has a right to know." The author has done an excellent job of portraying this aspect of the media and has created a character that is easy to dislike.
When Suzanne herself becomes a victim, she learns first-hand what it is like to be on the receiving end of false charges. She learns how quickly a life can be destroyed, a career irretrievably damaged, and how quickly so-called friends will turn their backs on you. As her life is in shambles and she relies on someone whom she had hurt in the past to save her from prison, she begins to realize the extent of the harm that she has done. Suzanne has plenty of time to examine her faults and begins to understand the meaning of the scriptures found in Matthew 7:3 & 4 which say, "Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, 'Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye;' and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (KJV)
Wanda Dyson has written an engaging book with a central character so flawed that the reader wonders if there is any hope for her. The writer has paralleled the lives of so many people who have to sink to the lowest depths before they realize their need for redemption, mercy, and forgiveness. On page 137, there is an excellent dialogue relating to the fact that those who choose to do evil hide in the shadows because they are afraid of the light. This is a definite comparison to evil and darkness as portrayed in the book of John 3:19 & 20 (KJV), which says, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."
Judgment Day is not only an entertaining book, it is also very thought-provoking and will cause the reader to re-examine his/her own life. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fine Christian fiction.

Suzanne Kidwell is the presenter of a TV crime show, Judgement Day. She believes she won’t “get anywhere in life unless she was willing to be a little ruthless, a little mercenary, and [have] a whole lot of ambition”, but it seems that no everyone agrees with her, as her producer is giving her trouble about not sufficiently checking her sources, and her boyfriend, surgeon Dr Guy Mandeville, is pressuring her to give up her career and get married.
However, this little problem is soon sorted when Guy is killed while driving Suzanne’s car – the car loses control and explodes, and Guy’s distraught mother has her removed from the funeral service. Suzanne’s life then goes from bad to worse when she wakes up one morning to the sound of the police banging on her door – and a dead body beside her. Needless to say, she is charged with murder, and the police consider the investigation closed. To prove her innocence, her attorney refers her to the private detective agency run by close friends Marcus Crisp and Alexandria Rachelle Fisher-Hawthorne (Alex). Oops. Suzanne and Marcus were engaged in college, the relationship did not end well, and Alex is initially hostile towards Suzanne and reluctant to take the case because of this history. But there are indications that Suzanne the victim of a conspiracy, and this persuades them to take the case (assisted by a sizeable advance from Willard Mandeville, Guy’s father). What follows is a high-octane thriller as Marcus and Alex work with Suzanne to solve the mystery before anyone else gets hurt.
While Judgement Day is a thriller rather than a romance, there is a strong thread of romantic tension between Marcus and Alex running through the novel. They have been friends since college, business partners for six years, and somewhere in that they have each developed romantic feelings for the other, but neither want to take the risk of revealing or acting on this. I thought it was extremely clever how Dyson managed to convey this tension without spelling it out in words, and without wanting to give away any spoilers, the ending was more than satisfying! Overall, a very enjoyable novel, and I would certainly be interested in reading more about Marcus, Alex and their PI work.

Suzanne Kidwall excells at exposing people's sins through her weekly cable news show Judgment Day - whether she has her facts straight or not. When a woman ends up dead on her living room floor and Suzanne is found with blood on her hands, she has her turn experiencing a taste of her own medicine - instant judgment in the eyes of the public for a crime she didn't commit. Her only hope is to turn to a private investigation agency to uncover the truth, an agency run by Marcus Crisp, her ex-fiance. As he and his partner, Alex, start shining a light on the facts of the case, it becomes clear that Suzanne has become entangled in something far beyond her grasp, something that has placed her life at risk.
I enjoyed the fast pace of Judgment Day as it untangled the web that Suzanne had become caught up in. Suzanne is an intriguing character with her obviously selfish manners and yet someone who you still can't help but like with her sometimes misguided methods of uncovering corruption and seeking justice. The book doesn't have a dull moment, and I was immediately drawn into the story from the beginning, where nothing is as it seems. Dyson is a skilled writer who does a good job of building the suspense and leading to a satisfying conclusion. I didn't find all the elements of the story to be perfectly plausible, but as a whole the story was highly entertaining and will definitely appeal to readers who love a good suspense story.
I strongly recommend the story and give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Great suspense

Date:July 6, 2011
Wanda L. Dyson was new author for me but I was intrigued by the storyline and had to read Judgment Day. As one who enjoys a good suspense read, I was not disappointed. From the first few pages, the suspense began and kept me turning the pages. There were times when it was predictable but Ms. Dyson’s writing still held my interest. It is all too common in certain genres for the same ideas to be written over and over again. Ms. Dyson did an excellent job in making this unique story line work.
I was a bit disappointed in the characters. Much of the dialogue seemed shallow and rushed. While the suspense and action were well written, I would have loved to have seen more character development. I think digging a bit deeper into some of the relational aspects would have added much to the story.
The ending was a surprise. It seem to take a relational focus and after the relationships being kept at a superficial level throughout the book, the ending seemed out of place. I definitely expected a different style of ending for Judgment Day.
However, if you are looking for a great suspense read, Judgment Day would be an excellent choice. I will be looking for more of Ms. Dyson’s work to read in the future.

Suzanne Kidwell is a host of a cable news show and when one of her sources shows up dead in her living room and something happens to her boyfriend that was intended for her she has to turn to her ex to help her out with the investigation. It does not help that she does not remember what happened that night and her reputation is not the best.
A good thriller that keeps you turning the page to see what will happen next to the characters and seeing how your past can catch up to you.

Judgement Day by Wanda L. Dyson....this book will keep you on edge, excited to see what is going to happen next. I could not put this one down. The suspense is wonderful. Wanda L. Dyson knows how to keep a reader intrigued!
Judgement Day is about Suzanne Kidwell, a woman that hosts a show named Judgement Day with Suzanne Kidwell. This show is about exposing others that are prominent in society. Suzanne does not use the best tactics to get her information on stories. She has reported things about others without fully investigating the facts, which has got many people upset at her.
One night when she returns home, there is a man dead in her living room. She had been out drinking and can't remember all of the details...only that she has blood on her hands and she knows that she did not do it. Because her reputation is questionable, she becomes a suspect. Her boyfriend drives her car and ends up in a crash that kills him, an act that was meant for Suzanne. She is suspected in this also.
She has to hire an investigator and turns to the best, a man that she once dated and treated horribly. She has to inform him of all of the people she was investigating for stories and of all of the people that may be mad at her. He and his partner are very reluctant in helping Suzanne but they soon find out many things going on that would have been reason for Suzanne to be in danger.
This was a great book! I highly recommend it as a good read. Suzanne Kidwell gets her Judgement Day with twists and turns in the story that you are not expecting. I really enjoyed reading this one and hope to read more from this author!

My latest bedtime read has been Judgment Day by Wanda L. Dyson. It was provided by Water Brook and Multnomah Publishing. The book is about Suzanne Kidwell, a host of a cable news show, and what happens when the body of one of her sources is found dead in her living room. Having to depend on her ex-fiance and his partner to investigate what has happened and looking into her stories that she is working on for her show are making her look at her life differently. To top it all off, will they be able to find out what has happened before something terrible happens to Suzanne?
I really loved this book. It was gripping and engaging from the first chapter. The characters and stories were developed wonderfully. The only problem I had was on the back cover it said that a Senator died in her living room. When I got to the actual murder, I was a bit confused. However, that was more of a typo that was overlooked. This book is a definite recommendation for those that love suspense book.
I received this book from the blogging for books program from Multnomah/Water Brook Publishers. I was in no way told to give a positive review for a free copy. This review is my own opinion.

I really like mysteries, who dunnits, and novels of suspense. I haven’t read a lot of Christian novels, but some of the ones I’ve read haven been sappy and tried too hard to demonstrate that they are Christian novels. This book, Judgment Day, is a who-dunnit mystery that is not sappy or that tries too hard to be Christian. The characters are flawed, including the Christian ones. There is a lot of room for differing Christian character traits and diversity in Christian beliefs (i.e. gun control) while not ever becoming sappy and over-written.
There is some predictability to the story but there is enough suspense and guess work to keep the reader involved in the story throughout the book. I enjoyed the time the main character spent in jail. I enjoyed the banter between co-workers. I enjoyed the way the side story seemed to be intertwined with the main plot. The story left me wondering about the future of some of the characters. I like that in a book. To have everything wrapped up neatly seems forced in most books.
The undercurrent of the book helps the reader think about how rumors start, how we receive them, and how we pass judgment on the people involved. It also makes one think of the television programs we watch!
I am not going to give away the ending or any plot twists. I want to say that I enjoyed reading this book and author. I will look for other books by Wanda L. Dyson. I wonder if she has written other books with the same characters. I will have to look for that.
I recommend this good mystery, Christian or not. I guessed at some of the plot early but it became less obvious the more I read.

Suzanne Kidwell takes no prisoners when it comes to exposing lies told by politicians, businessmen and even religious leaders for her show “Judgment Day”.
That is, until she is framed for a murder she swears she didn't commit.
Now having to lean on the one man she betrayed in college, Suzanne is forced to face her own lack of standards when it comes to ethics and the false accusations she has made.
This suspenseful novel by Wanda L. Dyson grips you from the beginning of the first chapter.
It's a twist of moral tale with a Christian message, best bits from CSI and has a sprinkling of romantic tension thrown in just to add a little humor and spice.
Dyson works hard at telling a tale and captivating readers. Her characters are well developed, occasionally morally flawed, and not over-preachy when it comes to their witness.
Suzanne Kidwell is a dislikable character from the get-go. She over dramatizes, falsely accuses and doesn’t care who she steps on as she reaches for her personal ambitions. She looks at the faults of everyone but herself. She’s judgmental without reason, trusts the wrong people, and can’t see the truth when it smacks her in the face.
That said, when she reaches her lowest point, she is forced to reckon with her mistakes and seek forgiveness, which doesn’t always come easy.
The only issue I have is that the description on the back of the novel and the description of the storyline on most websites is not correct. John Sterling is NOT the person that is found in her living room.
Readers will enjoy this suspense novel. It’s a perfect read for a vacation at the lake.
I received this book free from the publisher through the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group book review bloggers program. These are my own opinions and if this book wasn't as great as I thought it was, I would have told you. I was not required to give a positive review.

Just finished Judgment Day by Wanda Dyson-it was not just good-it was really, really, really good!!. This is the first book I have ever read 200 pages before I just had to stop. When they call this a page turner, they were totally correct.
Christian suspense is my favorite genre to read and this author was masterful in weaving an interesting tale of corruption, greed, murder and even harvesting organs for sale. Suzanne Kidwell has a weekly cable show called Judgment Day and she exposes people for the lies they tell, often with shoddy investigation tactics. Her car has been rigged to explode but her boyfriend is killed not her. Then she is arrested for murder and hires her ex-fiance Marcus and his partner Alex. They take the case and realize there is more here than just a murder charge and that is where the suspense starts. The investigation into what is going on and how both Alex and Marcus deal with each other and the case kept me reading trying to figure out just how this was going to end. The plot was very fast paced and the ending was both good and bad. You will have to read for yourself to figure out what I mean by that statement. The whole idea of harvesting organs for money was unbelievable to me but I am sure this goes on. The author does a good job of exposing this to her readers. This book is a keeper, I just wish I had not read it so fast!!.

Suzanne Kidwell has learned a few shortcuts in her years as a hard hitting cable news journalist. She knows how to keep the ratings shooting higher and higher. Yeah, she might have gotten a few of her facts wrong, but she meant well. Her job on the cable news show Judgment Day requires her to stay on the cutting edge of what's happening in her city.
The recent disappearance of two teens from the high school sends Suzanne scrambling for news. While on the trail of who might have been responsible, Suzanne boyfriend is killed taking her car to the shop. The police inform her that his death was murder and wonder how she's connected.
Suzanne remains above the fray until she's set-up for the murder of her boyfriends secretary. Bitter and confused, Suzanne turns to the best detective in town, Marcus who also happens to be her ex-fiancee. Crisp and his partner Alexandria Fisher-Hawthorne take the case of their careers, but will it be their last? Will they find the evidence to spare Suzanne?
Will Suzanne finally peer into the depths of her own shortcomings on her Judgment Day?
I could not stop reading Judgment Day by Wanda Dyson. The suspense, the action, the drama pulled me in from the first page. Drawn to find out who dunnit, I turned pages as quickly as I could read the page. Dyson's tale could be the headline of any major newspaper or top news show: realistic, relevant, and unfortunately not out of the realm of possibility. I enjoyed the characters: quirky, unique, and feisty with a little romance thrown in for good measure.
While the story is fictional, Suzanne Kidwell embodies everything I distrust about the modern day media. Suzanne took half truths and misinformation and spun it to tell the tale she knew her viewers wanted to hear regardless of who might get hurt or even for the truth. I believe the sensational side of journalism has taken hold of many in the news field.
Unfortunately, the fact that humans are trafficked as slaves for sex and organs is sickening, but sadly true. What does it say about our nation that we have so much and we want so much more that we are willing to pay any price to get what we want even if it involves murder.
Thank you Wanda for writing a great read while reminding us of the struggle for truth and freedom.

Missing teens. Sensationalist journalism. False Accusations. Murder. Mystery. Motive. Suzanne Kidwell and her stretch-the-truth reporting land right in the middle of all of it. She is forced to turn to a private investigator, her ex-fiancé, and his wealthy female partner for help.
A fast-paced story of suspense, Judgment Day is full of twists and turns, well-developed characters, and layers of mystery. While the "whodunnit" seemed evident fairly early on, there were enough rabbit trails to make the reader doubt his or her conclusions.
This was a good mystery and I enjoyed some of the unique characterization of Marcus, Alex, and Razz, the private investigators and their tech guy. Stand-alone sequels using the same team of investigators would be well received.

Judgment Day by Wanda L. Dyson was surprisingly fantastic! Marcus and Alex are private investigators hired to investigate bogus murder charges against a local cable news star Suzanne. The further into the investigation they get, the more trouble they encounter. I love mysteries, but I'm a little particular about the ones that I choose to read. Judgment Day was a great blend of intensity, twists, and enjoyable characters. The novel flows a lot like a James Patterson novel. I was completely engrossed from the first chapter.
Note: The copy on the back of the book states that a senator was murdered in Suzanne's apartment. However, it is actually a nurse. This was a bit confusing.
I received a free copy of this book from WaterBrook Multnomah in exchange for my fair and honest review.

What a great suspenseful page turner. Judgment Day is an easy read with a fast paced plot that will keep you turning the pages till the end and all mystery is revealed. As Susan is introduced and you get to know her better, I found that she made me crazy. Like when you watch a horror movie and you have to tell the person on screen, "Don't open the door!", because you know that what is on the other side is evil and not good for the person opening the door. Yes, that is what I found myself saying to Susan throughout the story. "Don't open the door!" "Listen to those who are trying to protect you and do what they tell you!" Ultimately, Susan does have to face the truth of her life, her actions, and especially her snap judgments of others.

Judgment Day by Wanda L. Dyson is a Christian fiction book. Suzanne Kidwell hosts a cable television show called Judgment Day where she exposes the corruption around her---except she doesn't do her homework very well and has made lots of enemies. Of course, she's close to the truth on many of her stories, so not only are politicians and businessmen angry--but they're scared of Suzanne finding out the truth of what they're doing.
One of those people is her future father-in-law. That is, if Suzanne will finally say yes to her boyfriend's proposal. Suzanne is driving her car and talking to her boyfriend, Guy, when her car starts doing weird things like accelerating all by itself. So Guy insists that she take his Porsche while he takes her car to a mechanic. Little does he know his own father is behind that little car problem--he's afraid of their venture being uncovered and exposed by Suzanne. While Guy is driving Suzanne's car to the mechanic and talking to his father on the phone, the car accelerates and Guy is killed in the wreck that follows. And Suzanne discovers a file in Guy's car that uncovers even more secrets.
Suzanne finds her life to be in danger and she needs help--fast! So reluctantly, she calls her old boyfriend (whom she jilted) and who is now an investigator. She hires Marcus Crisp, a partner with a woman investigator, Alex Hawthorne. Marcus and Alex enter a world of underground danger and put their own lives at risk to help Suzanne--who is slow to understand she has any responsibility for a lot of people being angry with her.
I love a good mystery book. Even though this book was a little slow and almost unbelievable at the beginning (who doesn't grieve the death of a boyfriend?), it picked up and I enjoyed the action the further it went.
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
