Moody Publishers Acts 1-12: The MacArthur New Testament Commentary

The book of Acts is the first volume of church history. It connects the early church to the ministry of Jesus, and provides the backdrop for the New Testament epistles. The book's focus on cross-cultural evangelism and the spread of the gospel makes studying Acts a must for any believer who is serious about living out the great commission. Join John MacArthur in Acts 1-12 as he explains each verse in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical.

The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series comes from the experience, wisdom, and insight of one of the most trusted ministry leaders and Bible scholars of our day. Each volume was written to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, dealing thoroughly with every phrase and word in the Scriptures without being unnecessarily technical. This commentary will help to give a better, fuller, and richer understanding of God's word, while challenging the reader to a vibrant personal spiritual walk.

John McArthur is a very reliable bible teacher. He provides commentary related to the history and culture of the time relevant to the passages he is commenting on. He will insert background information that helps to place the scripture in context, and of course, most important of all, he always uses scripture to interpret scripture. I routinely use has commentaries as one of the sources I rely when I am teaching Sunday school. I have found his commentaries to be one of the best and very easy to read.

I enjoy MacArthur's writing style in this series of commentaries. I have his full set of commentaries that I use as one of my sources for studies. I purchased the two commentaries on Acts as a gift for a friend that is preparing to teach a men's bible study. I may not agree with all of his views, but the points and relations to scripture and the history of the times that he brings to light is very much worth reading.

A typically excellent work of John MaCarthur. Appreciate the careful balance of understandable original-language technicalities, doctrinal truths, and (especially) practical applications.
