I have read this book many times. I love the simple lifestyle Brother Lawrence had and his concern to live a godly life. He had difficulty in life being disabled, and yet he followed through praising God. A must read.

I love this little book, keeping my heart constantly directed and redirected to the presence of God continually abiding with me. The consuming focus of this monk on the presence of the Lord in his daily life is amazing and convicting. I read and re-read this as part of my quiet time, along with other things, on a regular basis.

This book was kind of hard to follow at first, and I had to read more carefully. But then it did get easier to read. I think everyone should have this book, Christian or not, because we all need to live the way Brother Lawrence did. I'm buying a copy for all my family and for some friends. Great book!!!

As Bro Lawrence says, the purpose of devotions and Godly books are a means to an end. The end is living daily in the presence of God. This little books teaches you how to live in His Presence in the noise and activity of our busy life. An invaluable book for anyone wanting to live the abundant life.

Re-reading this book has been helpful in reminding me of practical ways to focus on God and not circumstances. It's direct manner and challenging example of one whose desire was to do all to God's glory with God's help is really amazing. I have already recommended this book to others.

Small, but powerful. This wonderful little book provides encouragement, wisdom & great helps for everyday living. It never grows old.
It has long been a favorite. The only other book, just slightly better, is "Closer Than a Brother" by David Winter.

I'm almost guessing the previous reviewer did not read this book... as it is truly delightful - and has no such thing as 'Old Testament' teaching! Brother Lawrence's Book speaks of how simple and lovely it is to live life - in relationship with Christ. It truly is a love story between man and God. He breaks down the religiosity we so often want to pronounce on the things of Christ and by his example has given what our walk with Christ should look like by living in this way: 'Love me with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul!' This book needs no addition to it (from the book of Ephesians...or any other scripture reference) as he has declared the teachings of Christ throughout the entire reading!

Brother Andrew had a good way of relating with God with the knowledge he had. I just felt as I read through the book it was getting to religious and old testament. I believe he was a man on the right track and he could have had a greater relationship if he just had read and saw what the people in the new testament had in the book of Ephesians.

It is an inspiration that calls the believer to continually think of the Lord's goodness. The practice of training your thoughts to focus on Jesus is a blessing. It is needful today (2011) to keep away from foolishness and useless thoughts. He was a product of the graciousness of God.
