For Grades 7-10, this series emphasizes the development of understanding mathematical concepts and their applications, as well as proficiency in problem solving, mathematical reasoning and higher order thinking. Students will work on investigative skills, communication in mathematics, appropriate computation and estimation skills and mental calculation through graded exercises. Exercises are provided for different levels, while chapter reviews, challenging and problem-solving questions, revision exercises for review, the history of math and other elements are also included. Many questions require students to apply knowledge to new situations rather than following a procedure. Textbook 4A is recommended for Grade 10; 136 pages, hardcover. Teacher involvement is generally required.

The only reason I would give this any stars at all would be if my 10th grader could do advanced college math. My brother-in-law is a college grad who loves math and it took him an hour and a half to work 3 problems. I've ordered a lower grade level for my 8th grader, but haven't received it yet. I'm praying that it's easier to comprehend than this one was.
