I love this study! There are three of us doing this study together and we're all saying, "It's just what I needed. This is so timely!"
One of my "ah ha" moments was when I realized that I believed in my heart that although God is soveriegn and he is able to do all things, he is unwilling. And that perspective or belief system tainted all of my prayers for myself with unbelief. While I believed God was willing to do for others, he was not willing for me. I think it was the first dvd that challenged my thinking. Awesome! Amazing! That is just one example of how God is using this study to gain a better understanding of his character and who he says he is, not who I think he is.

I was struggling with too many negative situations around me and needed a boost in faith. In Believing God, Beth Moore exhorts us to remember that God's Word is to be actively lived out, day-to-day. Starting with the life of Abraham and moving through the Scriptures, Moore calls us to examine the life of active faith. God is honored and pleased by this faith and therefore will move mountains for those who believe. We can trust His Word and be assured that He can do exceedingly more than we can ever think or imagine. This study has definitely encouraged me and called me into a more intimate walk with our Lord.

I was one of the first people who took Miss Beth's "Believing God" video driven Bible study online from September to November 2002. And, at the time, we also downloaded the "homework" [aka: the workbook pages, of which Miss Beth was writing during the time between video taping from week to week - Thinking back on that, it must have been incredibly difficult for Miss Beth], from that original website. However, in this printed workbook, many great features were added to it. I had never taken ANY sort of Bible study previous to this one, but I literally became "enthralled" with His Word due to Miss Beth's enthusiasm and love for Jesus. Within 6 months of starting this study, I gave my heart and my life to Christ Jesus. Nothing could be more "life changing" than that ! One of the best features of this particular Bible study is that Miss Beth has included a page each week in which each participant can write down "GodSTOPs"; which stands for Savoring The Observable Presence of God". This basically meant that she suggested that each one of us should very specifically take time to write down what "simple" and/or incredibly amazing things that we seen and/or experienced each day. This is included in this study guide book, as well.

I did this study on-line, and I have to say, it has truly changed my life. My day to day life - with the LORD, Christ and The Spirit. It has also dramatically changed my life with my family, my friends, and everyone I come into contact with. It is a journey... and Beth Moore is a great teacher, understanding that when you are done with the study, you are NEVER done Believing God. It's AWESOME. Buy it, study it, LIVE IT! We have loved "A Woman's Heart", "To Live is Christ" and "A Heart Like His"...they were life changing and so well done!! But sadly I had to reschedule our Bible study and returned this one. Perhaps because it's topical rather than inductive (as most of hers are) that she takes extreme liberties and definitely gets off the path. For example, in the first video she says "did you know you can rebuke the devil and get in his face"... citing the passage in James which says "resist the devil and he will flee".... (big difference between resisting and rebuking or 'getting in his face'). We know that the scripture says that "even the archangel Michael wouldn't dare bring a reviling accusation against the devil...". You can choose to believe in something, but that doesn't make it so. If what we are 'believing God for' is our own desire and not what He has laid out in His word, then it can be just wishful thinking, and God is under no obligation to respond. It appears the humility is gone in this study and there is less devotion to context than that which has characterized her books. She has some incredible stuff, but this is not one of them.

This was the very first workbook I had done of Beth Moore's and it was POSITIVELY LIFE CHANGING. Since then, I have been led to do 4 more of her studies, 3 of which I've done on my own (without a study group). I've always known that believing in God and BELIEVING God were somewhat different; this workbook drives that message home with Biblical accuracy. If you love to "do the homework" and search the scriptures for yourself, don't just get the book - get the WORKBOOK!
