For years I have been concerned that most churches leadership structure is out of line with Biblical Doctrine as taught in 1 Timothy and Titus.Any beginning pastor and new church must have this available in order to follow God's Word on leadership in their church.

Review 2 for Elders and Leaders: God's Plan for Leading the Church - A Biblical, Historical and Cultural Perspective - eBook
I have read this book through at least once, and used it as a reference since many times. It is basically an in-depth study of the Scriptures (relating to the appointing and role of elders and deacons) with the purpose of defining what a modern elders ought to look like. This is a very valuable resource for anyone who is searching to discover how God desires to see the Church operate.

Review 3 for Elders and Leaders: God's Plan for Leading the Church - A Biblical, Historical and Cultural Perspective - eBook
At this point, I have skim read most of the book. I intend to order additional copies and study it together with my leadership team. I have been an adherent of Getz since reading "Sharpening the Focus of the Church" back in the 80's. His interpretation of Scripture, and specifically the main purpose of the Church, is right on. IMO, whether you intend to move toward an eldership, or are already there, knowing what God says about the character of the leadership is more important than your paradigm for governance.

Review 4 for Elders and Leaders: God's Plan for Leading the Church - A Biblical, Historical and Cultural Perspective - eBook
I have not read the book in its entirety yet, but I have read enough to know that this is a book that every Christian in a leadership position (or considering one) should have and use as a reference. It is strictly Biblical as well as being very practical.
