Moody Publishers One Minute After You Die - eBook

Someone you know is about to pass away. Will they enter delight? or horror? Many people spend more time planning for a vacation than preparing for eternity. Perhaps it doesn't seem real that we will still exist---fully conscious and alive---beyond the grave. But it's true, and it calls for careful consideration.

In this updated edition of One Minute After You Die, Erwin Lutzer urges you to study what the Bible says on this critical subject. Topics include:

  • Can near-death experiences teach us anything about life after death?
  • What does the Bible say about purgatory?
  • What will heaven be like?
  • Is it realistic to believe in hell?
  • How can we prepare for our own final moment?

Love this book , just what I was looking for. A true exposition according to the bible, not based on anyone's testimony, which I believe are not founded in God's word to us. Want to read all of this author's books!!

Dr. Lutzer had done an excellent job of putting together what we know about heaven and the afterlife from Scripture and other sources. I especially appreciated the part about infants who die. We will see them again!

We having been using "One Minute AFTER You Die" as the resource for our Adult Study at church. It has been a very insightful and engaging study. It's a topic that we had never studied in the past and has been a very real blessing to our class. Dr. Lutzer provides many observations about the life to come from a very biblical standpoint. There is some speculation, but that's to be expected. The DVD, which we're using in the class is very well done. One caution would be for the leader of class to review carefully the topics that a present in each resource (DVD, Study Guide, and Book). They don't always line up.

This book was all I hoped for and more. It answered questions I've had for many years but never have been able to ask a preacher. I bought extra copies, CDs and a DVD to give to family members and a friend. I will probably buy more to give to other family and friends. I learned some shocking things I needed to know and I also learned things that answered those long sought after questions that have given me peace and joy to my soul. It was easy to read and hard to put down. I plan on keeping this book to reread throughout my life! I loved it!!!

A good read, as well as an informative learning tool, especially for folk's that are young in their spiritual walk or understanding of God's Word. A wake-up call to unbeliever's.

The book was very interesting, it kept my interest all the way thru to the last page. It had a lot of information in it, and the place in the bible where to find it. If any one had questions about this subject it had everything explained so you could under stand it. It was a well written book easy to read.

A few good parts but some were faaar out!
Like the one when a baby is still born or dies soon after birth that maybe the parents will have the joy of holding the infant in heaven and watching it grow to maturity. Eternity is ageless so how could that be.
And then there's the one where he said that God will not erase from our minds that a loved one is missing, i.e. we will know that the person is in hell but we will be convinced t hat the punishment is just and we will feel no sadness!

All of us will face death someday (unless Jesus returns while we are still living or the Rapture comes). I have noticed that even knowledgeable Christians are often frightened of death. This book is a wonderful and easy read. I highly recommend it for small group study or individual study.

This book was very good. I enjoyed it and totally agree with everything the author said except for one thing. I do not believe that anyone who commits suicide goes to heaven. I am not God and I cannot judge but I feel that only God gives life, and only God can take away life. A person who commits suicide is a murderer and cannot ask for forgiveness once he/she is dead. Other than that, the rest of the book is excellent.

I read Randy Alcorn's book "Heaven" which was an excellent overall book on heaven and I highly recommend it! However, shortly after I finished Randy's book, I found this book by Dr. Lutzer. It was marvelous! The book is 1/5 the size of "Heaven" and wasn't quite as in-depth but the overview of both heaven and hell was excellent. Very easy to read with thought provoking remarks. He backs his view with many scripture references and is thorough in his analysis. The church does not focus enough on Hell and its ramifications. Other than to bring God glory and to enjoy Him forever, escaping the torment of Hell is precisely why Christ died and was raised for us! We all too often forget this and for this reason the reality of Hell MUST be brought to the forefront again!
