It's a very interesting book! I think anyone who suffers from any kind of addiction can find value here. And if you don't suffer from any addiction it very interesting to see how this particular addiction takes over and influences your life.

Unbelievably transparent story of a man who followed pornography to it's darkest, inevitable consequences. It tells how he turned from the wreckage in his life and found a path to health. He is frank about how difficult this journey is. It involves a spiritual transformation and a dependence on confession through a supportive group of fellow strugglers (12-step group). He does not conceal the challenge of this process, but he does instill hope! The book is equally valuable to the sex addict and to the person who would like to help those addicted to porn.

This is a terrific book. Porn Nation is an intense look at what happens in a man's life when he stumbles into porn, and the repercussions it can have. It also shows what happens when you humble yourself and use the pain and mistakes, broken hearts and bad decisions to help others who are in the same situation, but want a way out and are looking for a guide.

Michael Leahy's book Porn Nation is hands down the single-most compelling book I have ever read. Ever. This is high praise I know and puts me out there a bit but it's true. The book is a heart-breaking, painful chronicle of Leahy's porn & sex addiction from childhood through to the ultimate breakup of his marriage and family. Leahy is ruthlessly honest about himself and the destructive nature of pornography. Another powerful aspect of this book is that as he weaves his story of growing addiction Leahy is also telling the story of pornography's explosive growth through technological advancement into western culture and psyche. Leahy's ex-wife gave him permission to publish excerpts from her journal which provide the reader with a more complete perspective on the nature of the addiction. Her heart-wrenching pleas for renewal in their relationship as well as her temptation to blame herself are very insightful. Leahy has written a book that is personal testimony, cultural observation, and a guide back to health and wholeness for those enslaved by pornography. As a pastor who has to counsel in this area I highly recommend this book to both men and women (especially men); to book clubs, couselors, teachers, pastors, parents and of course anyone who may be struggling with an addiction to sex & pornography. Leahy is the Executive Director of Bravehearts (www.bravehearts.net), an organization dedicated to raising public awareness about the impact of pornography.

Michael Leahy explains his addiction to sex and pornography in this book. He explains how his long term addiction destroyed his life and gives an exhaustive explanation on why pornography is bad for our society. He does not, however, give any advice on how to overcome any of these problems, either within or in society. Although this book would give precious insight to a non-believer, I would not recommend it to any Christian man as I did not find it very helpful spiritually. God is mentioned very briefly at the end of the book, which is hard to get to given to uninspiring nature of the book. It was also hard for me to read this book as someone who used to struggle with pornography as he explains where and how to find all kinds of pornography and goes into detail about what kinds are available. The heart of the book is about his struggle and losses with sex addiction and attacks it from every angle, yet there is not much on his life afterwards or how it was overcome. All in all what this book is is an awareness raiser. It will not offer much helpful advice and for a Christian will not bring up any new moral/spiritual values or thoughts, but if you don't know anything about the subject it will help. What the book may be good for is for Christian females who need to know what their brothers struggle with.
