The illustrations are numbered - the numbers are very small and appear at the end of each illustration. It took me awhile to find them. The index in the back is VERY helpful.

I am a teacher of the bible. I can't tell you how rewarding it is when the lights go on in peoples faces, when they understand some principle of God's words to them. I will agree with at least one of the other reviewers about the (dis)orderliness of finding specific illustrations in a quicker manner; however, that's when you as a servant of Jesus have to dig a little more deeper than skimming over 'cliff notes'.

I'm sure that Tony Evans has some great illustrations in this book. Trying to find them is the issue! Try going to the index and look up a topic or try going to the Scripture index. You will see a number next to that topic or biblical reference. Unfortunately, that number is NOT a page number; it is the number of the illustration. Regrettably, NONE of the hundreds of illustrations are numbered so there is absolutely no way to find the illustration according to the number given in each index, i.e. the illustrations themselves are not numbered! This is idiocy! This book is practically useless and was a waste of my money. DON'T BUY IT!!

I am always looking for up to date illustrations for sermons and many books and services are repeats of others. Dr. Evan's does provide many illustrations that are not found in any other resource I have discovered. Good for sermon illustration. It is difficult to find the illustration you are looking for from the index since the articles are not number. But still a good book.
