We are so inundated with "millions of years" and evolution in this world, that it can be difficult for a parent who does not believe that to find resources to teach their children that there is, in fact, scientific evidence that backs up the biblical account of a literal 7 day creation and rest period and of a worldwide flood.
This series created by his father, Kyle Justice who has produced videos that have appeared on many channels including National Geographic.
In this episode, your friendly field guide, Noah Justice (the son of Kyle Justice) leads us on a journey through two of America's most visited natural attractions, Yosemite and Zion National Parks.
Using stunning cinematic photography and narratives, you will receive a brief overview of the history of the park like when it was first set aside by Abraham Lincoln in 1864 and later adopted into the national park system.
Starting with the flaws in relying solely on radio isotope dating and uniformitarianism to measure time, Noah explains how it is easy to marry a young earth with the formation of the Sierras and the igneous rock. Also focusing on how a catastrophic flood could permanently and greatly change the earth's landscape, including speeding up the decay rate of natural elements. scientific evidence is presented to back up the biblical account. He further explains how while glaciers and an Ice Age could definitely have cut the valley initially, it is unlikely that the Merced River really eroded the valley to its current state by showing evidence that a massive water erosion aligns more with scientific evidence.
We particularly enjoy that the video employs Scripture, providing references and verses right on the screen during the presentation. My two older children like Noah (and his hat!) and were really enthralled with the video, especially my 7 year old.

Explore Yosemite and Zion National Parks is episode 4 in the Awesome Science series. Yosemite National Park is filled with granite cliffs, huge rocks, and a gigantic valley. Zion Canyon has huge sandstone layers, arches, hanging valleys, and steep canyon walls. Both sites have plenty of features for geological study.
This episode covers the geologic features of both sites and analyzing them scientifically, such as steep canyon walls that show water erosion and curved canyon walls show glacial erosion. There are plenty of pictures to go along with the science.
This episode goes into great detail of radiohalos and how they show that granite was formed quickly rather than over millions of years. It also shows how this ties in with problems with dating methods using Uranium 238.
It also covers the ice age, showing that instead of many smaller ice ages that the evolutionists believe, there was one large ice age after the flood of Noah. It shows how the flood best explains the geological features of Yosemite and Zion National Parks.
The study guide covers the key concepts from the DVD and includes activities such as fill in the blank, order the events, true/false, and Bible study bonus activities.
I like the Awesome Science series and this is another great episode that teaches more understandable science in 30 minutes than most DVDs do in 2 hours. I recommend Awesome Science Explore Yosemite and Zion National Parks DVD with Study Guide for anyone interested in Creation science. It is a great teaching tool for homeschool and laymen.
New Leaf Publishing provided this DVD and study guide free for review. I was not required to give a positive review- only an honest review.

We use this video as a supplement to our homeschool. My kids love these videos. The Awesome Science series is very well made, and packed with information. You need to watch them several times for the kids to grasp all the information packed into a 30 minute session. So, I would suggest purchasing the videos rather than renting them.
These are a great supplement to teach on creation.

This is episode 4 of the new season of Awesome Science with Noah Justice. This is the second episode that we have watched together as a family. I have always wanted to visit Yosemite so I found this extremely interesting. There was a few more science terms in this episode then in the one we watched about Mount St. Helens and my younger kids were a bit lost. This would be perfect for kids 8 and up all the way to adult. I really found it interesting when they were showing the chemistry of the granite rock. I have studied half life a little in the past and so I really enjoyed learning about this from a biblical not secular point of view.
The Awesome Science videos are great for those who home school, youth groups, and Sunday school classes. I really think they are great for those of us who send our children to public school too that way our kids will be ready to argue their beliefs. Having a foundation of research and facts can really make you much more confident in sharing your beliefs with others. I want to give these tools to my kids that way when they are faced with false teachings they are equipped to recognize them. I think the Awesome Science DVD's are a terrific way to do so!
I was given this DVD for free in exchange for my honest opinion~

I was given the chance to review Awesome Science - Explore the Yosemite & Zion National Parks. My first reaction was WOW!
What I liked: I loved the fact that Noah is engaging, speaks well and keeps your attention and doesn't bog you don't with to much information. My oldest son loved the fact that he was a child and knew all this cool science stuff. I also loved the fact that the video gave information about what the evolutionist believe and what the creationist know is true.
I can say the only thing I didn't like about this video was it was to short it left me wanting more. :) I can say I am not a big fan of science but I loved this movie.
I love that this video is a family thing, Kyle Justice his two sons Noah & Jeremiah all work together to make this awesome video and all the others in the series.

Awesome Science Explore Yosemite and Zion National Parks, hosted by Noah Justice and produced by the Justice family, is a DVD with an accompanying Study Guide (also available as a free download) that presents scientific concepts from a biblical worldview. The engaging 14-year-old host does a wonderful job of clearly explaining both secular and biblical views of the creation of these national treasures, and my kids enjoyed hearing this from someone they could relate to. Noah explains how these areas were formed as a result of a global catastrophe, and gives evidence to show the shorter time span that this occurred than that given by secular scientists.
The DVD is divided into sections, so parents can pause it and discuss scenes along the way. The Study Guide provides vocabulary and questions to cover what kids learn, and we like to keep the guide handy while watching the DVD, stopping to review the questions for comprehension. My younger boys benefit from this, because there is a lot of information to take in. My ninth grader, who just learned about erosion in science, was especially interested in the information in this volume of Awesome Science, and he commented how neat it was to see video footage of these places.
Scripture references appear at the bottom of the screen, making it easy to look up the verses referred to--kids can read it for themselves. The Study Guide includes some neat bonus activities, such as mapping and research suggestions, and discussion questions are included as well. We watch the entire DVDs at once, pausing in between segments, in one day. Then, we spend the next week or two re-watching each segment and doing the corresponding activities in the Study Guide. Because Awesome Science includes geography, history, science, and language arts/vocabulary, this set makes a nice unit study, providing a break from our regular books and reinforcing concepts we have learned. Wow--getting to watch a DVD and call it school? My kids love it!
So far, there are six DVDs in the Awesome Science series, published by Master Books, a division of New Leaf Press. I have found the ones we have watched to be a really nice supplement to our science curriculum, and for visual learners, they are great reinforcement.

I'm so glad Noah Justice is back for Season 2 of Awesome Science! The first episode of Season 2 (episode 4) is Explore Yosemite and Zion National Parks. I love that I always learn new things along side my children when watching these videos. I had never heard of Zion National Park and I learned that Yosemite was the first land set aside for public enjoyment. As always, I love for my children to learn science and history from the creation standpoint.
Noah Justice gives kids (and adults) great information on the proof that Yosemite National Park and Zion National Park give about Noah's flood. He gives Bible verses to go along with the information that he is explaining. This episode goes into deep detail about the Ice Age or cold Earth temperatures. The short 30 min video length is just right for Apple & Speedy's attention span. The study guide that is available works well to cement the information that they have learned in each episode.
Each video opens up a world of follow up research and projects. Shadowboxes, crafts, research to show creation vs evolution theories, and swimming to better understand evaporation- the possibilities are almost endless. Series like this are perfect for parents like me that are not as science savvy. Homeschoolers will enjoy the DVD based curriculum and the possibilities for taking the information farther. Public and private school students could use the videos to learn more about science from a creation basis. Get your student into Awesome Science!
I received this video from New Leaf Publishing for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.
