Fretheim has, as one of his chapter titles "IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? YES!" And he means it. This book is a relentless attack on the sovereignty - indeed the deity - of the Holy One of Israel. For the well established and well grounded Christian it is a useful guide. For all others, stay away unless you want to be subjected to an almost obsessive determination to show how God is limited and human beings direct the course of history.
