I was under a lot of misconceptions about what this book was. "Uncle Tom" has always been a derogatory term but the book tells a different story. Tom was a hero. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see is what my dad used to tell me. If I hadn't read this book I would never have learned the truth.
