Review 1 for For the Layman: A Survey of the Old Testament--Workbook and Cassettes

I have used both this text and the New Testament one for homeschooling my middle school aged kids. This series is excellent for laying a groundwork and timeline for the events of the Bible. The workbook follows the tapes and has blanks to fill in which keeps the listener involved. There are also timelines, maps, and other pertinent historical data included. Kenneth Levy manages to cover important information while avoiding arguments over controversial points. There is a test in the back of the workbook, but I wrote my own tests. I wanted to have several smaller tests rather than one big one. However, I did use some of his questions on my tests. My kids seem to understand the material quite well the way he presents it. I have enjoyed listening to the tapes several times!
