Really enjoyed the book and the series. However, I already had book 1 and saw that the 4 books was sold as a set. I asked if it included book 3 and I was told yes, there was 1 left. I said ok.. When the order came there was no book 3. My husband was able to find it on Amazon. So now I have 2 of book 1. I'll donate it to the town library. A little disappointed with that. But, I did enjoy the books. It was a nice story and I liked the way it was told.

I thoroughly enjoyed Angels Watching Over Me and am enjoying A Day To Pick Your Own Cotton just as much. I'm sure the entire series will be just as enjoyable.

I never thought Michael Phillips could bring out a fresh, new angle on the emancipation of slaves, but he did! Angels Watching Over Me is a heart-warming story of two young girl's struggle to survive against some tremendous odds! The story pulls you along easily and leaves you thinking about the goodness of God in your own life. The only thing I'm missing is a sequel, but I'll fix that by hunting for the next book in the series.

My sister and I read this book together a few years ago. We still talk about how the two main characters really stuck with us. We even plan to reread the series soon. According to my sister "It was capturing". Definitely worth a look.

I had never read anything by this author but read the discription and ordered (not knowing it was a series). I couldn't put it down and as I was getting near the end I was thinking they could make this a long series and I would buy every one! Then, reading the last line, I realized it had to be a sequel. I can't wait to get them in.Beatifully written, describing difficult subjects with caution and moderation (I would let my pre-teens read it) seeing the civil war south through the eyes of a slave girl, and finding our Lord in her own simple way. Precious Book!

I enjoyed this book very much as I enjoy reading about the South. I always feel bad about how the slaves were treated and find it hard to understand how they were used. This book is good to see how both sides lived and how 2 girls could become such good friends with the color of their skin not an issue.

I read all four of the Shenandoah Sisters series. I just could not put the books down. The way the story was told was so interesting, you just didn't know what was going to happen next. I am so looking forward to getting the Shenandoah Cousins series. I actually tried to read the last chapter a little slower so the book would not end. What a great series.

I found this book very interesting. Gave a good look into the devasting violence of the Civil War without going into gory detail. It hooked me and left me wanting to read all the books in the series.

The series is one you can't put down. Just as you think they are slowing down another twist comes in. One of the best series we have read.

I read alot of books and I loved this one! I felt like I was right there with them and I couldn't put it down. It made me think of how different their lives were but so very much a like because they went thru the same emotions and struggles to survive.

This was a great book! It was an easy read with short chapters. As each chapter ended, you were eager to begin another. It made it difficult to find a stopping place. The story just shows how God's love knows no boundaries. The two characters were as different as two could be; yet, God's love reigned. I did not realize this was a series. I would be interested in reading another.

I didn't care for this book. Having it written in the first person made it less interesting to me. There was too much description of the characters' thoughts, and not enough of a story line.

This book was given to me as a gift. It was sohard to put down that I read the entire book in 2 days.It shows how the Love of God can show through two individuals, durning a time period with hate and destruction all around.Through this book I purchase all the rest of the series to continue on with this saga

I loved this book. The beginning was a little confusing, where he was setting the stage for the story, but once I got into the story I couldn't put the book down. I read it in one day and I am looking forward to reading book #2 in the series.

An absolute must read. I have read many books, but this one really touched me. The plight of these two girls and the way the story is told is absolutely fantastic!
