LilacsRineyville, KYAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Marvelously writtenMay 16, 2011LilacsRineyville, KYAge: 45-54Gender: femaleScience was not one of my favorite subjects, as a child. I found this book while homeschooling my boys. I enjoyed it so much that I kept it on my bookshelf. It points to the Creator. When you read it you wonder, "How can anyone not believe in the existence of God? "

snowflakeHawkeye, IowaAge: Under 18Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Tells interesting, unusual thingsMarch 8, 2014snowflakeHawkeye, IowaAge: Under 18Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a great book to learn some of the deeper points of anatomy and health, without getting excessively technical. For instance, have you ever wondered why do people get less colds as they get older? This book says it is because each time you get a cold, you get an immunity to that virus, but because there are so many viruses, we never get an immunity to them all. This and other interesting things are in this book. By the way, this book is written mostly on a high school or adult level.

Anne Jemanden5 Stars Out Of 5August 2, 2006Anne JemandenFinally an anatomy book that doesn't dumb-down the content with "attention grabbing" cartoons or weigh it down with endless pages of confusing, pictureless text. B by D takes itself seriously, without being scary. Plus, Gillen tries to explain everything in a way that makes sense or can help you visualize the way something works. It's a good book for both someone who is fascinated with anatomy (a future Dr., for instance) and someone who's taking it because they have to. You won't walk away knowing everything there can possibly be learned about the human body-but seriously, how many high-school students want to? It's at the ideal "in between" level between the two-plus the author consistently highlights fascinating processes that would make even a staunch evolutionist swallow hard and admit that they can't really explain just how something came to be-in other words, he is very pro-creation, and writes in a way that seeks to give all credit and glory to God. To sum it up-a very good anatomy textbook.
