The main characters in this book are Andrea Henderson and Warden Mart McClendon. Andrea moves to Moses Lake with her son Dustin to build a new life. Dustin is really bitter and very hurt over the divorce of his Mom and Dad. His life has been uprooted and he isn't the least bit happy. Andrea tries her best to make a living for her and Dustin. He has shut her out of his life and she can't seem to reach him.

Mart ends up in Moses Lake to try to forget the death of his brother and nephew. He feels he is to blame for the accident. He can't or will not forgive himself.

A little girl named Birdie enters the picture and Andrea and Mart team up together to find out who she is and where she came from. That being said, the suspense begins.

Lisa Wingate does an excellent job of going back and forth in the chapters between Andrea and Mart. One never gets lost because it is so well done.

This book is about love, forgiving each other, forgiving oneself, and new beginnings. It is about leaving the past behind and moving forward. It is about God's Love, Mercy and Grace.

Larkspur Cove is the first book that I have read by Lisa Wingate. I am hooked and I am looking forward to reading other books written by her.

Thank you Lisa for writing a good clean book that I would not be ashamed to read or pass along to family or church family. You have a God given talent and may God Bless You!

After living in Houston for years Andrea Henderson finds herself coming home to Larkspur Cove across from Moses Lake, Texas, an area familiar to her but completely foreign to her son Dustin. Andrea is trying to make a new life for her and Dustin after a painful divorce; unfortunately her new job requires daily travel into godforsaken areas leaving Dustin on his own. Andrea trusts Dustin on his own; he has always been a good responsible young boy, however divorce does sometimes have a negative effect on children. Andrea realizes exactly what kind of effect it is having on Dustin when Mart McClendon the game warden shows up early one morning after Dustin had been in some trouble on the lake. Dustin did not quite tell his mom just how much trouble he was in or what his choices of punishment were. Andrea and Mart find themselves on the same side of the law when they begin searching for the identity of a homely little girl who is keeping company with the town recluse.

Will Dustin ever recover from his parents' divorce or will he find himself in constant trouble? Will Andrea and Mart find the identity and the truth about the little girl? Does Mart ever face his painful memories that he has been running from? Do Andrea and Mart ever find happiness again? Find the answers to these questions and many more in Larkspur Cove by Lisa Wingate.

I enjoyed this book. It was a very fast paced book and there was a lot going on. It was hard to put it down.

I received this book free from Bethany House a division of Baker Publishing Group as part of their Blogger Review program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This was a great story about a young social worker and the challenges she faces with the people of Larkspur Cove. Lots of adventure, suspense and romance make this a very interesting book.

Mystery, action and romance. A great combination. I grew to love the little town through the seemingly mundane, yet interesting uniqueness of the area. I'm not familiar with small towns and I liked this portrayal of one. The locals seemed realistic and added an interesting flavor to the story. Both Len & Birdie were intriguing characters not seen in most story writing. Neither were their challenges typical, yet the unfolding of their growing relationship & trust was heartwarming to see. It made me look at their situation with new eyes. Each individual was imperfect and their struggles and growth were interesting, though one issue of Andrea's was frustratingly slow. Just as in real life.

Something fresh & different from most books. The little community had it's magical moments I'll not soon forget. This author is one I'll be looking for due to her creativity, character development and ability to keep my interest. The start was a little slow, but the book was well worth the read. The ending leaves one issue uncertain, but I can see why it can't be resolved so quickly.

When Andrea and her son moved to Moses Lake, she thought

she would start a new life and she would have left all her

troubles behind her. No way, life does not work that way.
