This is one of the best books I have ever read for women! Dr. Smith shares her heart and the experiences she has had to help women balance life and deal with the society we all are living in today. I would say this is a MUST read for every christian woman!

Review 3 for Set Free to Live Free: Breaking through the 7 Lies Women Tell Themselves - eBook
A Review of Set Free to live Free By Dr Saundra Dalton-Smith
I thought I knew all the negative self-talk that women indulge in and the lies we tell ourselves I had down pat. After all at age 70 it’s a matter of been there done that, got the tee shirt, so what’s new. Saundra Dalton-Smith’s book, Set Free to live Free is new. In her book the author takes you behind the patient doctor screen to bring true life experiences, and shows the crippling effect these lies and myths have on the psyche. She herself, as she reveals was not immune, so this is also her story as well as yours and mine and so many countless women. So we know the score, but how do we get free. A God-given intuitive gift allows Dr Dalton-Smith to probe beneath the surface of the problems presented to dispense a prescription based on biblical truths, facts and a ministry of encouragement that empowers the patients to replace the lies with truth.
As I poured over this book, and I must warn you it is not a onetime sit down and read kind of a book, it takes time to read study, digest and act upon the information. But as I went through the book, I had to stop and take notes, which I placed in strategic places in the book so that I could go back and reference the sections. It was sort of like doing a Bible Study and truly a great amount of truth was revealed and a lot of healing and help. I felt that I had gained victory over a number of things because they no longer were a part of my life, but as I read Set Free to live Free, I found that there was still tension in some areas of my life that needed to be released if I was to truly gain the victory I deserved in life and in Christ. One such situation was in relation to emotional pain. I was no longer in a male female relationship, so I thought there were no barriers around my emotions. How wrong I was, when I examined myself. I am so glad I did because not long after I was led by the Lord into a friendship with a wonderful man, and had I not torn down those protective barriers, I would not have been open enough to receive the good that was coming from and through him. I am now able to engage in honest self-disclosure. What freedom, what a victory!!!!
This is an easy to read, nook, note, not a quick read, and I truly appreciate the deep biblical perspective that Saundra brings to bear in her writing. This is definitely a book that women of all persuasions should read, whether Christian or non-believer, because the issues are common to us all and the solutions are sound and very needed to make us into the beautiful creation of God that we are intended to be, living up to our full potential in total blissful freedom of self.

Review 4 for Set Free to Live Free: Breaking through the 7 Lies Women Tell Themselves - eBook
The warm, yet bold style used to present women with God’s truth is refreshing and inviting. When the World screams that thin is happy, the author reveals a deeper truth:“As a physician, I would love to see everyone within ten pounds of her ideal weight. The problem with such a statement is it requires a concrete definition of ideal body weight. For some it’s the weight they were prior to childbirth, for others it may be the weight at which they had the fewest medical ailments, and for still others it may be the weight at which they perceived they were the most attractive. Whatever the motivating factor, the reality is that women have become weight and dieting obsessed to the point where it has become counterproductive.”Lies about our ideal weight and our image are only two aspects of many the author explores. Each page is filled with engaging examples, her trustworthy view as a physician, and true-life scenarios--all shining with powerful insight that are truly life-changing.---Janet Perez Eckles, author of Simply Salsa: Dancing Without Fear at God’s Fiesta.

Review 5 for Set Free to Live Free: Breaking through the 7 Lies Women Tell Themselves - eBook
was really looking forward to reading Set Free to Live Free when it arrived in the mail. As a recovering perfectionist Dr. Dalton-Smith's work was of great interest to me. Written from a Christian perspective and looking at seven lies women tell themselves. Dr. Dalton-Smith identifies these lies as Perfection (Perfection Is the Goal), Envy (I Would Be Happy Too If I Had Her Life), Image (If I Do This I Can Look Like That), Balance (Life Is an All-or-None Activity), Control (Being In Control Is Better Than Spontaneity), Emotions (Emotional Imbalance Is Only for Crazy Women) and Limits (Everything Comes with Conditions). Once these are thoroughly explained she goes through a plan to fight the insecurity's that affect woman on a daily basis. This work of non-fiction really spoke to my heart. Everything we do affects us both physically and spiritually. Dr. Dalton-Smith explores this connection and leads the reader to the truth. She uses real woman's stories to show how God can heal. He is the answer. This is a book I will need to read again and really ponder how to apply the principals to my life. I sure could use a little setting free that's for sure. Set Free to Live Free is now available from Revell Publishing. Go and get it. It will change your perspective in the most positive way!

Review 6 for Set Free to Live Free: Breaking through the 7 Lies Women Tell Themselves - eBook
First I must say, Set Free To Live Free, is a book every woman should read. Better yet, read it with your daughters. Oh, the lies we tell ourselves. From we are worthless, too fat all the way to we are undeserving. I simply loved this book. I felt as though I had sat down with, Saundra, myself. Now, that is a gifted writer. Saundra shares the seven lies we tell ourselves, but she does something that I just loved. She tells the truth behind the lie. She shares with us how to face the lie and how to overcome that lie in finding the truth. We have been told these lies by our own mothers who faced these same claiming lies. It is time to break the cycle, friends. With, Set Free To Live Free, we can be released from the past holding us back and move forward to the women we were created to be.
The lies: 1. Perfection is the goal 2. I would be happy too if I had her life 3. If I do this, I can look like that 4. Life is an all-or-nothing activity
5. Being in control is better than spontaneity 6. Emotional imbalance is only for crazy women 7. Everything comes with conditions
The Free Women's Creed: 1. I am perfectly imperfect 2. I am too unique for comparisons 3. My body, my temple, God's choice 4. My balanced life requires addition and subtraction 5. Spontaneity is God's opportunity to surprise me 6. My transparency opens the door for soul connections 7. My only limitations are the ties I allow to bind me
With each lie, Saundra, shares a story of a woman, a woman struggling to overcome. One that deeply touched me was a woman who came into her office with skin cancer. Just one small, tiny spot, changed her life forever. Just one tiny spot that went unnoticed by her, but was noticed by, Saundra. Our lives can be like this tiny spot. We let such things go until they grow and grow. Becoming a cancer that eats away at us. This woman was set free. Not only from the cancer that attacked her, but situations in her life.
Saundra leads us through this journey of lies into the freedom of truth. Everyone needs a doctor like, Saundra. What a blessing. The amazing thing? We all have the Healer who loves us and is waiting to be part of our lives. Only He can set us free. This is not only a great book for women and their daughters, but for men too. What better way to understand your wife and to encourage her than to really know her on every level. I think this would be an awesome addition to a Sunday School lesson or a small group study. I know I will share my book and pass it on.
Another part I loved is a story of a woman searching. Saundra sets her up on a date with the man of her dreams. The only One who can bring her true joy and set her free. You will find yourself within these pages. Women who struggle. Women afraid to share. Ladies, it's time to let go. It's time to be set free. How many stars to do I give this book? Well, you can only give a five, but for me, this book was at least a ten!! Really. This is one you don't want to pass up. I learned much about myself through these pages. Praise the Lord we have willing vessels to share with us. To open our eyes to finding a freedom. A freedom only to be found in Jesus Christ.
This book was a gift by Saundra Dalton-Smith, MD for it's review.
