Paulist Press NRSV Catholic Prayer Bible Lectio Divina Edition

Experience the ancient, beautiful, and life-transforming practice of lectio divina—the prayerful reading of Scripture. An ideal Bible for anyone who desires to reflect on the individual stories and chapters of the biblical books, while being led to prayer through meditation on that biblical passage.
"The Church must be constantly renewed and rejuvenated and the the Word of God, which never ages and is never depleted, is a privileged means to achieve this goal. Indeed, it is the Word of God, through the Holy Spirit, which always guides us to the whole truth (cf. Jn 16:13)."

"In this context, I would like in particular to recall and recommend the ancient tradition of Lectio divina: the diligent reading of Sacred Scripture accompanied by prayer brings about the intimate dialogue in which the person reading hears God who is speaking, and in praying, responds to him with trusting openness of heart (cf. Dei Verbum, n. 25). If it is effectively promoted, this practice will bring to the Church—I am convinced of it—a new spiritual springtime."

—Pope Benedict XVI

We practice Lectio Divina at the retreats we do with
school children. This has been an extremely useful tool in our adult prayer groups also.

I am taking a Bible Study course (Jeff Levins The Great Adventure). Lectio Divina has been added to our study schedule by the instructor and my new Bible is perfect for this. I have read other books on Lectio Divina and having this included as a side bar in the Bible is wonderful and is so convenient. It really simplifies praying with the scriptures and provides helpful explanations of each passage. I have already shown my copy to the rest of our Bible Study group and our Pastor was the first one to order a copy for himself. This Bible will be a life long daily companion for me. Gratefully Yours.

I have only begun to use it, but so far am happy with it. Easy to read font. The short commentary on almost every page provides a helpful summary of that chapter or section. Anyone considering this Bible should look at the preview pages on the web site, which provide a accurate representation. The product description says it includes "all manner of helpful aids, connections..". That is an overstatement.

Nice Lectio Divina version Bible. However, some illustrations within text seemed to suggest modern oppression upon certain minority groups cmimitted by Anglo or White members (I myself am Hispanic and see no need to view this illustrated oppression, namely minorities as always viewed as victims). Why alienate "any" ethnic or racial group in a bible? Or portrayed in a certain manner as stereotypical? No need for it. There's righteous and not-so-righteous in each and every racial/ethnic group. Thank you.
