This is such an easy read! The characters are so likeable, the emotions so honest, and the story so very touching that you don't want to put it down. Looking forward to the sequel!

I loved reading how brave these girls worked together and all the ideas they came up with. I have ordered the2 books that come after this so I can see how their lives change as they continue. I enjoyed the book very much.

Read it from cover to cover as soon as I got it. I have been looking forward to reading this one as soon as I finished the first book in this series. I liked that it was written from Mayme's point of view rather than from the typical white girl's point of view. I could really feel their fears over the situations they faced and I enjoyed watching the girls grow and change as they met each challenge.

I loved the entire series. I could hardly put the book down at times. So many things happened so quickly I wanted to keep reading to see how they get out of the fix they are in but as soon as they do they are in another fix.

This is an excellent example of what can be accomplished once people pool their talents and resources. An excellent and enjoyable way to study American history and to reflect on far we've come and how far we can go if we respect and embrace each other's differences.

I found this at the library in the NEW section. I picked it up because I recognized the author and publishers names. I thoroughly enjoyed this historical novel. I was surprised to find out when I finished this one that is was a part of a series and I had started with #2. Well, I now have the other 2 on order from the library and I requested that the 4th book would be purchased at my library.
