Beginning to Pray has established itself as a modern spritual classic. Hailed both by Catholics and Protestants, it was written by an Orthodox Archbishop for people who have never prayed before and has been read and loved by persons at all levels of spiritual development.

Classic work on the subject. So many books on prayer seem to not understand what the majority experience of the church has been and is while this book starts us down the right path.

Review 2 for Beginning to Pray

Regardless of your perceived knowledge of prayer, this book offers wonderful insights into the practice. It helps one become more sensitive and aware of the mystical work of God's Spirit in us as we participate in prayer. Drawing from the depth of wisdom maintained within the Orthodox Christian tradition since apostolic times, Bloom shares a depth that is often missed in the more scholastic analysis of prayer offered by western Christianity.
