these prayers are simple but powerful, they can really help in time of thanks, troubles, or just reaching out to our lord. i find it a excellent companion to the reliable King James Bible. this is a well crafted book, supple bonded leather, type is easy to read, and having my name embossed on it gives it a personal feel. it is was a well worth buy all around quality.

Very insightful and spiritually cleaning one's sins and temptations to refer to before temptations arise in one's misguided daily thoughts. I would wholeheartedly recomend this and reading the bible daily to safeguard one's self from lofty thoughts arisen from Satan and evil. A Spiritually Healing and redeeming reading..

This is a wonderful collection of Puritan Prayers that are at the very least humbling for ones own prayer life. At the most it shows such a wonderful relationship that the Puritans had with God through their prayer life. I would highly recommend this book. ***My only "suggestion & want" is that the publisher also market it in an eBook format that IS NOT protected so that we could purchase and download it onto our eReader Devices.

These Puritans prayers are a collection by category, edited by Arthur Bennett, Canon of St Albans Cathedral, England. The prayers are filled with verses that capture heart issues in, as Canon Bennett describes them, animated prose, good fodder for sermons and meditations. The prayers are from a number of authors up to Charles Spurgeon in time.
The book itself has a leatherette cover, good enough quality and nice to hold. CB offers imprinting on the cover, so I had my name imprinted. Font options are minimal. Would have liked one that matched the title's. The pages are similar to thin Bible pages. Nice to touch. A little ghosting through from other side, a minor distraction.
Ordered one also as a gift. Overall: good value.

Besides my Bible, this is one of the best assets a person can have for their devotional time. With almost 200 prayers, I thought at least some of them would be irrelevant to me. Was I wrong! Each one is powerfully moving, packed with theology. Whether you're joyful or stressed, young or old, these prayers are faithful to remind you of your need of a great, great God.
I was surprised at how small the book is, but I have no complaints. I really don't know how they did it, but for a book 7.25 in tall and half an inch thick, they managed to fit in over 400 pages. Surprisingly, the font is quite large, and the paper is thick and high-quality.
Overall, this small, portable book packs a punch. Everyone should consider getting this. It's extremely uplifting to try to follow in the shoes of some of the most devoted people ever. 10/10!

A great resource for those who have trouble finding the right words to pray. While this collection of devout Puritan prayers is in King James English, it is still a great way to pour your heart out to God through the words of some of the pioneers of the faith.

This is a fabulous little book that will give you tremendous encouragement not only to pray but in your devotions. what ever you do, get the bonded leather, it more beautiful than the paperback and will give you many years of use.

So thankful to the writers; the editor; the publisher; the sellers of this amazing book of prayers; and to the Lord for this volume. As is the case with such writings as those of great men as C.S. Lewis, I often find myself remarking, "If I were as articulate; as intelligent; and as in tune with the Lord and His word as the writer(s) of these prayers, I would hope to phrase my prayer exactly as they did."

An excellant read...as you read the prayers of the Puritans, they become your prayers. They had a real sense of God's Holiness and His amazing love and grace. Repentance is a theme that runs throughout. You can pray these prayers as part of your devotional life.

My favorite devotional. I have used it for many years. There is good reason the Puritans were known as Doctors for the Soul. I wish it came in larger print and a better cover, such as real leather.

These prayers take you back to another era where God was held in the utmost respect, fear and holiness. It also touches your heart with their deep grief at their sins and shortcomings. The prose is just beautiful. A very moving and touching look at the Lord and what it means to be His disciple.

This volume contains some of the most poignant and heartfelt prayers ever written apart from the Bible. Wonderful for personal devotions or public reading. These Puritan prayers uncompromisingly describe our natural sinful state and call out for God's unmerited grace and love in a way that is seldom, if ever, heard from America's pop culture/feel good pulpits of today.
Every Christian home should contain this book.
