"Why do things go so wrong when I'm trying so hard to be right?" If you've ever asked yourself this question, Crabb has a few answers. "Far too many Christians do not deal honestly with their lives. The pathway to change is more often discussed and debated than displayed." In his warm, engaging style, Crabb helps you venture inside yourself where Christ is waiting to heal, restore, and fulfill. Real wholeness and real change are possible---if you're willing to start from the inside out. This updated edition of Crabb's classic and bestselling work includes a 12-week study guide.

This book was lent to me and I had to buy it for myself because there was a lot more in it than a book you can just sit and read through. If you are looking for a light reading book this is not it. But it will make you think about a lot rather from a patients perspective, a therapists perspective, or just someone wanting to change. Even if there are things in the book you don't totally agree with (as there were for me) the basic premise of the book is a lesson that shouldn't be overlooked.
Inside Out is a great book with the potential to change a person's heart if they let it. I have highly recommended it ever since I first read it over 20 years ago. However, this book will not likely help you if you have a mental disorder because this book is all about the heart, not the physical challenges of illness and its behaviors.
Dr Crabb is an amazing author and writer. I just finished another of his books "Finding God". This book I'm reviewing "Inside Out" was difficult for me. I found myself arguing with him over statements he made about it being necessary to face things about ourselves and our past. That may be the right thing for some, or even most, but not for everyone. I believe there are some of us who are better off spiritually and mentally to not walk it back. We just need to be the new creation in Christ and walk it forward. Nevertheless, I think this book will likely affect many people in a positive and powerful way.
This book really clicked with me. It has a message that I needed to hear. I often think that there is a reality gap in personal relationships because we are afraid that if we are honest and open with one another, we will either be hurt or come off to others as unspiritual or weak. This book tackles those issues, reinforces my desire for honest interaction with others, and best of all is practical in application. Dr. Crabb is able to put into coherent words many of the random thoughts that I have been unable to express. I recommend it highly.
