I have purchased many copies of "The Story" and gave them as graduation gifts to our Bethel Bible Study class as well as to family members. I relish the time I can sit and read this wonderful book myself and see the Word in a different light. For those new to the Bible, it is a great introduction and a much easier read than diving into the full scripture. For those of us a bit more in tuned to the Bible, it's a wonderful refresher!

Excellent introduction to the Word of God for those who may be overwhelmed at the wealth of material presented in a traditional format. This edition has been instrumental in facilitating unity throughout age groups in our church as we study together.

Have purchased several of these to give to individuals unaware of the Bible's content and seemingly overwhelmed using a standard Bible. This book reads like literature
without the standard Bible format and seems to be a good first step. I would not recommend this for in depth Bible study or as a book for those who are familiar with the regular Bible.

I don't consider this a "bible" and I don't see it being marketed as such like some other people are saying. I see this just as it says "a condensed" story of the bible. It's an excellent tool for spreading the good news in my opinion. I'm pretty sure if someone new to Christ were to read this they would want to pick up a full bible and study it more in depth. I would even dare to say if you've been reading a 400 year old translation your entire life that reading this may open your eyes and give you a few of those "ah-ha now I get it" moments. It's certainly helping me.

As a college student, I am helping my youth pastor teach the teen study to our youth group. It is an amazing study. It is very easy to understand and is great for both those new in their faith and looking for something to help them understand the Bible, as well as those who are farther in their walk with Christ and are looking for a different perspective in their devotionals and studies that they may already be doing. In addition to this, it can be adapted to virtually any age group. I had a guest with me tonight, a little girl in the fourth grade whom I was babysitting. Despite her age, she had the maturity and the intelligence to sit and listen to the story, fill out the worksheet that was provided, and participate in the discussions just as well as the older kids. She was so excited by the end that she asked if she could continue coming to my lessons to hear the other stories in the book! It was such a blessing, and if I had the chance I would give a copy of this book to everyone. It is becoming a very important tool, not only in my teaching to others in the youth group, but also in my own walk with Christ.

Great book. Easy to read. Easier to read than Bible but all scripture. Bought more than 10 copies total and gave them away as gifts because it is so good and easy to read.

This is not a bible for indepth study - it is a flyby overview. It ties together chronologically the gracious dealings of God and the wrathful judgement of God. The story has just enough details.
I would recommend this bible for new believers and old believers.

It is just as difficult as a regular Bible to read. I was hoping for a story format, instead we got another NIV reprint.

I thought it was wonderful as it read like a story. You get the overall picture from the beginning of the bible to the end.
I believe it would be great for people that haven't read the bible. It would give them a great beginning. It is well written; is accurate and keeps your interest.

I was very impressed with the book. It has a great overview of the Bible without getting bogged down in all the details of all the wars and laws of the old testament. This is not a replacement for the Bible by any means, but an overview of the Bible. I enjoyed it very much.

We are using The Story in our church Life Group. We have several in the group who are young believers and unfamiliar with the overall story of the Bible. We take one chapter a week and also tie in the chapters that are not covered in The Story. The discussion guide is not as helpful for this group, although it would probably serve others.
