After more than 30 years of pastoral ministry, I found this book refreshing, helpful, encouraging. I find myself going back to it over and over. I live and work in a difficult place to establish churches. Perhaps that's why I found this particular book helpful, faith-inspiring. I highly recommend it.

"Experiencing God Together" is another great title by the Blackaby family using the concepts from their popular "Experiencing God" series for applying to the local church. Around 300 pages, the book covers many topics, including:

    - Don't confuse religious activity and fellowship with God.

    - Strong relationships in a church are a by-product of a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ (one of my favorite points).

    - The importance of having absolute confidence in God instead of ourselves.

    - Instead of dreaming dreams of what you want to do for God, let Him reveal His dream for you.

    - God is not looking for His church to do great things, but to be obedient to Him.

    - The priority for church leaders needs to be in prayer and studying God's Word.

    - Being a disciple involves suffering and persecution.

    - Be careful of being driven so much for evangelism that we forget to take care of God's people.

After reading the book, here's what I like:

    - Very easy to read and understand.

    - Good balance of spiritual insights and practical application.

    - Covers many relevant topics.

Very good read and will be read again. Highly recommended.

I am using this book as a way to influence lay leadership to have the same Biblical model for the local church. It has had a wonderful affect on the vision of our church.
