Mrs Palmer, you amaze me... with each book of yours that i read i seem to be less and less able to control how much time i spend reading in a day.. this book is so intense a constant battle of true love and charade. even the seen of the actual french battle was touching and romantic. its when we are at the end of our rope that we realize what truly matters in life and who is really in control. Ruel and Anne are so different and then so alike. Amazing story, characters and plot.. by far the best story i have read and believe me i read hundreds of them yearly... totally recommend to everybody, read it you wont be desapointed.

I was not disappointed in this second book. It was as good if not better than the first. It also was a page turner and one I did not want to put down. The only thing, it ended too soon.

The Bachelor's Bargain surpassed all my expectations! I read the first book in the series, and while I really liked it, it was not my favorite book. But this second installment far surpasses the first. Palmer seems to have grown as a writer. The plot was more intricate and the characters had more depth. I could barely put this book down, and I cannot wait to get the third book.

I loved this book from the moment I picked it up. Once I started reading I couldn't put my book down. It's so good I think that they should make a movie out of it like they did with the Love Come Softly series. It's a must read you'll love the book. I have read this book at least 5 maybe 6 times that's how good it is. =)

Review 6 for The Bachelor's Bargain - eBook
This review is fromThe Bachelor's Bargain, Miss Pickworth Series #2.
One of the best books ever! I actually read this book before I read "The Affectionate Adversary." So it is ok to read them individually. But I do love a good series and this is definitely one of them! A marriage arrangement made out of need and a specific purpose leads to a great dramatic story of how love can grow. From start to finish this book has excitment, love, laughter, and it just makes you hang on every word! I've read it twice already and now I'll be reading "The Courteous Cad." Like I said earlier you can easily read each individually but if you're like me and love to do the whole series, after reading this it is recommended to read Wild Heather & Sweet Violet to have some extra background to the 3rd in the Pickworth Series. Those are also great books so you'll be happy you read them no matter what!!

Gunshot, believing she is dying, and determined to free her father from prison, Anne, only a lady's maid, accepts a ridiculous marriage proposal from Ruel Chouteau, Lord Blackthorne, heir to his family's duchy. Ruel, knowing that Anne is a talented lace maker and holds the key to his plans of a lace dynasty, does everything is his power to make Anne well. Anne does recover from her wounds and is ashamed that she took matters into her own hands. Ruel and Anne play the part of a happy couple in love...in the public eye of London's aristocracy. Behind closed doors, however, quite the opposite is true. Both keep up with the charade in order to accomplish their own plans. Like many books with arranged marriages, or marriages of convenience, the reader can almost guess what will happen. Don't like each other at the beginning...adore each other at the end. However, the journey to love in this book was quite enjoyable. Catherine Palmer wove an exciting story that was hard to put down. The Bachelor's Bargain is book #2 in Palmer's "Miss Pickworth" series. Although some characters from the first book, The Affectionate Adversary, are mentioned, one can read them independently from each other and not miss a thing! Actually, I thought The Bachelor's Bargain was a much better read than the first book.

This is a book I already want to reread. The story of two lives so dramatically changed, particularly of the transformation of the bachelor is a story of the beauty of the Lord's miracle of love.

Review 9 for The Bachelor's Bargain - eBook
This review is fromThe Bachelor's Bargain, Miss Pickworth Series #2.
Miss Pickworth is back and hasn't lost her touch! In fact, the mysterious Miss Pickworth is half the reason why I love these books, and like many readers, I am hoping to eventually meet her and see if she gets a romance of her own. Otherwise, I enjoyed this book because Anne and Ruel are easy to empathize with (although yes, Ruel can be a bit of a jerk at times), and Anne's willingness to give up so many dreams is very touching. The plot drags in spots, but didn't stop me from reading, and I am looking forward to hearing more from the prolific Ms. Palmer and the perspicacious Miss Pickworth.

I just finished the book and loved it. The depth of the characterc were wonderful. Finally, someone who is bold, headstrong, and doesn't think twice about speaking her mind about her faith. WOW!! Surely allot of us can relate or wish we could. The characters were in which you can learn so much from, the strengths in there beliefs whether right or wrong and how they grow closer to God to find the comfort of peace within. Then combine that with the history that was brought out into this novels was wonderful... I even learn more about my stomping grounds. Thank YOU! Great Job!

I really loved this book. With some romance authors you know exactly who is going to fall in love with who and how it is all going to happen. With this book, however, normally your thoughts about how it will happen turn out wrong. It really keeps you guessing. I finished this book in less than a day because it was so hard to put down.
