Manners are sorely lacking in today's society, and thankfully this book- Manners Made Easy- is exactly what is needed. A manner a day will keep the rudeness away. I am so pleased with this purchase! The price was perfect and the product is being used each day in my house. I can not say enough great things about this. Just buy it, you'll see! :)

This was a well delivered message on civility and politeness. It is all based on common sense and the golden rule and it gives talking points to help promote dialog about civility with members of our family. Not too wordy but with very good advice.

As a mom of LD kids (Learning Differences), it is important that not only do my kids learn acedemically, but social skills as well. I thought i was going to have to write my own curriculum, this book totally meets the needs we had as a family!

I was looking for a book that had simple, short, scenarios to teach basic manners to my boys. This didnt meet my needs. First disappointment, this book is hot pink (very pink) so it seems especially geared to girls. I should have noticed! Besides that, it has very short (like those page a day calendars) sections on meeting people, telephone manners, hosting, electronic etiquette, public manners, fine dining, etc. Each section has a few sentences and a suggestion followed by a quote (some bible verses). While I can appreciate many of them, some of them seem to be a little over the top. (Like, don't blow your food to cool it in public and how to eat a frozen dessert.) I can see a little princess loving it, or someone who always likes to know the right way to do something, but I can also see it as a little legalistic in the manners arena. (Is it polite to tell someone they violated manner number 86?)
I was hoping for a Christian book geared toward children showing basic manners in light of Godly character. This is a book for a princess. So, I wouldn't call it manners for the family and somehow "every occasion" still misses what I need the book for. :(

I wish the book had been more properly titled "Manners made easy for the AMERICAN family" because I bought this book thinking it would be good for my international school's library. It is a great book, but it is very American, and makes little mention of the fact that folks in other cultures have different thoughts on how to use the fork, how to pass the food, etc. For instance, British people put food on the back of their fork to convey it to their mouths, and they may pass food by one person holding the dish out to each of the rest of the people at the table, which may involve that person getting up and walking around to reach each person politely. This book is an excellent grounding in what American think is polite, but it stops at our borders. (Which is not a flaw except when in international ministry!)

We are reading this book together as a family. The etiquette tips are grouped by type of manners; for example: Telephone Manners, Electronic Etiquette, and The Words We Say. We did not start at the beginning of the book, but started with the subject that was relevant for us at the time, Public manners and Traveling. Our girls, ages 10 and 13, wanted to read and discuss more as we traveled in the car. Each tip has a suggestion to practice or discuss, along with a scripture or short quote.

I love how easy, plain, and short each lesson is and that there are practical suggestions to help you put into practice what you've just been taught. The lessons seem to build on each other in a natural progression. This has been a wonderful and welcome addition to my children's daily schedule and they love doing it!

As part of a Parenting with Purpose resolution I'm doing this year, I began reading this book with my young children. Even my little ones are enjoying reading the daily manner shared, and role playing for practice using that particular manner trait.
There are so many practical things shared that even I sometimes forget to do, but show respect and courtesy to those around us - something not so evident in the world today.
I'm loving this book, and have recommend it to many other young moms!

I had been meaning to buy this book for some time after I flipped through it at a local bookstore. I am so glad I finally did! We have started reading it at the dinner table and using the quick practice tips on each topic. They are very easy even for the youngest ones to do. Manners are such an important, yet overlooked thing in our society. This book really does make it easy and fun!
