This review was written for NIV Pink Bible: An Invitation to Hope.
The NIV Pink Bible: An Invitation to Hope is written for any woman whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Its purpose is to bring hope and encouragement to those in need of comfort.

This edition includes the complete text of the NIV version of the Bible, with the words of Jesus in red text for easy identification. There is a forward written by Janelle Hail, the founder and CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. There are also nine pages with prayers, devotions, and suggested scripture readings. The topical index includes subjects such as: salvation, suffering, healing, guidance, and peace. Following this is a list of prayers in the Bible, after which is a 90-day reading plan to give an overview of the Bible. A complete three-year reading plan is also included. I especially liked the overview of the Bible that offers a brief description of each book of the Bible, very helpful for new Christians. This is all made complete with a pink ribbon marker to keep one's place.

I found this to be an excellent version of the Bible, one I would recommend to anyone who has experienced breast cancer.

Note: The Bible I received was not pink/brown, but rather two tones of pink.

I wasn't sure about doing a review of this Bible after recently receiving the diagnosis that my daughter has stage 1 breast cancer, but then thought who better to review than someone in the midst of the fight.

When I opened the package, I thought it was a paper book, but, it was just the outer box. Inside the outer box is a beautiful two tone pink slimline Bible. I immediately loved the size and feel.

It is lightweight and slim, yet contains the complete Bible in large enough print that can be easily read. There are 4 two-sided glossy inserts written by a breast cancer survivor which include words of understanding and hope, a prayer and verses to read. I read one side per day, prayed the prayer and read the verses. My favorite was the very first one, A Prayer of Hope, because it brought me the most comfort. I did wonder about the inclusion of a couple verses, but overall, I found the passages appropriate for the topic and subject. I expected there to be more stories or personal thoughts interspersed throughout the Bible.

I liked the index. It was different than your typical topical index in that it was geared for hope and comfort with topics such as forgiveness, joy, healing, love and restoration etc.

I also liked that there were two pages listing the prayers from the Psalms, from the prophets, of Jesus, New Testament and Paul's prayers which anyone would find helpful. I found praying their prayers to be of great comfort.

I believe this Bible will be a beautiful addition to my daughter's hospital bedside and am excited to share it with her.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my review. I was not required to give a positive review. Thank you Zondervan. Thank you BookLook.

This NIV Bible is a beautiful choice for any woman whose life has been affected by breast cancer. Whether she is a survivor or a co-survivor, the NIV Pink Bible brings the reader timeless words of comfort, hope, and encouragement. Specially written inspirational insights by a breast cancer survivor are sure to encourage the reader during this significant part of their spiritual journey. The NIV Pink Bible: An Invitation to Hope contains the complete text of the New International Version (the worlds most popular translation)with 10 beautifully designed reflections and stories to encourage the reader, and an index to hundreds of verses of hope and encouragement.

For the most part, this is a straight forward NIV thinline Bible. The pink cover is a rubber/paper hybrid made to have a leather feel and look. The pages are thin, the font is small (what youd expect from a thinline) and to be honest, I flipped through page after page trying to find one of the cancer survivor encouragement pages. Well, it turns out there are only 10 and they are printed on card stock and just randomly inserted throughout.

I would expect a Bible for cancer survivors would have more than this. Cancer is a plague that has devastated so many lives and the Bible can be such a wonderful resource for encouragement and strength, I just wish Zondervan had tried a little harder on this one.

Thank you to book sneeze and Zondervan for the advanced copy in exchange for a fair and honest review
