Barbour Books SCENARIOS 1 & 2-Dare to Be Different: 2 Interactive Stories in 1 - eBook

What would YOU do if you had to make a life altering decision? Would you stand your ground and choose a path that follows your belief? Or would you give in to peer pressure to avoid rejection? With this 2 in 1 book you are given the opportunity to do just that. In Truth or Dare?, Lindsay Martin and her friends are playing "Truth or Dare" at sleepovers when their harmless fun suddenly turns into something more risky. Will Lindsay stand her ground and choose to not participate in the dare . . . or will she succumb to the peer pressure from the group? You decide, and discover the consequences.

In All That Glitters, Drew and Dani are twins, but Drew desperately wants to assert her identity separate from her sister. She gets a new haircut, new clothes and friends, and a new boyfriend. But when her new boyfriend pressures her to lie to her parents, what will Drew do? Face rejection from her boyfriend and do what's right? Or give in to temptation and lie? You decide the route and see what life-altering consequences your choice creates.

I bought this book for my 10 year old. I have had to put it away for awhile until I feel like she is a little more mature with the ways of the world, and after I have discussed certain topics. I was hesitant to purchase the book, but because it was at a really low price I decided to try it. I didn't read it entirely but skimmed it and found the word Rape. This topic has not been discussed yet, but will in the future. I was hoping that the topics in the scenarios would not be so strong. I'm not at all saying that she can't read this book…just not now.

This is two books in one. The stories are well written. The situations the girls find themselves in are very common. What I really like is that there isn't a 'perfect' answer. Each choice has consequences that the girl has to deal with. I really appreciate that the author did not stick with pat answers. These are a great read for middle school girls in public school.

I love these books and know my granddaughters will also. This is an excellent book that uses relative situations with girls "tween" ages to show decisions they may be confronted with peers and consequences of wrong decisions and rewards of better decisions. I foresee many young girls reading this and having opportunity to choose ahead of time what decision they would make if found in a similar situation. It could very well save many young girls from future heartache as well as show them, if they have already made some bad decisions, God can show them how to turn things around if they will turn to Him and receive His help. I think women; especially Mother's will also like these.

My almost 11 y.o. LOVES the Scenario books. Yes, I capitalized on purpose because that almost captures her enthusiasm for this series. Why does she love these books? Because she loves being the character and choosing the outcome. She'll select the wrong choice, and then go back and make the right choice. It leads to great conversations as we talk about what makes one choice better than the other.
In Dare to be Different, the first story Truth or Dare starts with friends playing a harmless game at regular sleep-overs. Then their games of Truth or Dare take a risky turn. One of them is dared to drink a can of beer. In All that Glitters, one of the girls has to decide whether to give in to her boyfriend and lie to her parents or tell the truth. The girls are learning how to address peer pressure to do things they know are wrong or take the hard stand of doing what is right.

These books are ingenious in the way they ask the reader to make the tough moral decisions. It gives the reader the opportunity to feel the weight of the consequences. I've read all of the books in the Scenarios Series and I believe that each book dealt with a necessary issue facing the tween/teens of today.......and tomorrow.
I've purchased many of the books and donated some to my church youth library and many I gave as gifts to the daughters of many friends. All have then asked repeatly when the next book/s would be released. To anyone out there, these books are great gifts for young girls that you love and want to see make the right decisions. They prepare them before they're faced with the issues.
I love that they re-released the books as 2-in-1s. It gives the young girls more to think about and hopefully instills a desire for the next two 2-in-1 books in the series.
