As a ministry dedicated to helping men and women walk in freedom from sexual sins and brokenness, we use several resources for men dealing with sexual addictions. Repeatedly, men point to Breaking Free by Russell Willingham as one of the most helpful books we recommend.

This work by Willingham is excellent for those who do not know what true intimacy is about and who may be wasting time trying to find the intimacy needs filled in solo sexual activity. I use it professionally and personally.

Breaking Free is one of the most helpful books on sex addiction and recovery that I have ever read. It has a bit of a cheesy subtitle, "Understanding Sexual Addiction & the Healing Power of Jesus". But, Willingham takes one of the most unabashed Christian approaches toward recovery I have experienced. Also, he does not mince words. He is frank and to the point. The most helpful chapter for me was the one that dealt with "owning our brokenness." I cried and wept when I read it which is not something that I do very often.I highly recommend this book for Christians wanting to learn more about this addiction and how Christ can give us the strength to overcome.
