Glory Harper, who is 52 years old and was first introduced in The Case of the Bouncing Grandma where she saw a foot hanging out of a rolled up carpet which resulted in her helping to solve a murder mystery, lives in Tarryton, MO, where she works at the local college. Her older sister, Jane Calvin, is a school teacher and lives with Glory since her own house mysteriously burned down. Both women are widows. Glory’s daughter Andi and grandson Seth live nearby. Andi’s husband Jared is deployed oversees. While Glory and Jane are on a walking trail, their dog Misty finds a severed hand, and the signet ring indicates that it belongs to a missing college professor, Zeke Wallace, who caused a lot of trouble around town before he disappeared.
Thus, Glory has another mystery to solve. But she must also deal with the fact that sister Jane is overwhelmed by trouble with her pediatrician fiancé Steven (“Dr. Dreamboat”) and his newly discovered daughter Becca. In addition, Glory herself is fired from her job, and must consider her budding relationship Detective Rick Spencer (“Blue Eyes”) who is in charge of the investigation and objects to Glory’s pursuit of information. And there is the involvement of Renee Brent, a lawyer with the radical Coalition for Civil Rights, an ACLU-type organization with which Wallace has been working. Then, when it is learned that Wallace was blackmailing people and even was related to someone in town, all of a sudden there is a plethora of suspects. And the mystified coroner can’t even determine a cause of death. So who killed Wallace and why?
Author A. K. Arenz is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers, so I was a bit surprised at all the references to having affairs, people “sleeping with” other people, out-of-wedlock births, even rape. To be fair, all such things are presented more or less tastefully as sin needing repentance, and at least in one case there is an emphasis on seeking and granting forgiveness for past mistakes. Relying on faith in God to help in difficult situations is also stressed on several occasions, and church is a regular part of these people’s lives. Also good family relationships are portrayed. Besides a few common euphemisms (e.g., heck), there are a couple of incidents where some of the “bad guys” use the word hell as an exclamation or curse. Thus, the book is not for young children. But teens and adults who like semi-humorous, somewhat light-hearted murder mysteries, ala Jessica Fletcher of Murder She Wrote, that are generally clean and wholesome should enjoy it. I did notice that Becca had been homeschooled and her new grandmother was planning to continue doing so.

This mystery was light hearted and yet very interesting as well. The characters are believable. I always appreciate a mystery that keeps my attention to the very end!

It was funny but kept you in suspense. I couldn't put the book down , had to know what happened next.

Romance, mystery, intrigue ... and a sassy chick who just happens to be a Grandmother. I love A.K. Arenz and her talent for offering her readers top notch mysteries and down-to-earth settings. This book features Glory Harper once again as the energy-driven grandmother. Her penchant for finding trouble is second only to her desire to follow God in all his plans for she and her family -- a family who just might be growing if handsome Detective Rick Spencer has anything to say about it. When Glory and her sister, Jane, discover the severed hand of Professor Zeke Wallace while on a walk, Detective Spencer is called in and the sparks begin flying between he and Glory. The tension is well-paced and the writing is superb. Don't let the cover fool you. This is a first-rate read from beginning to end. The relationships in the book are not only timely but touching and real. I loved it and can't wait for book three in the Bouncing Grandma Mystery Series - Mirrored image. A.K. Arenz is definitely a person of interest!

This is the second book in the Bouncing Grandma series. The enjoyable sequel is entitled The Case of the Mystified M.D. Glory Harper's pup finds the severed body part this time. Glory and one of the detectives on the case are becoming more interested in each other. There are many secrets in this story, and several of the town's characters were being blackmailed. Follow the crooked trail left by the blackmailer with Glory and her friends. See if you can solve the mystery before they do.

A fun, quick read! Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed The Case of the Bouncing Grandma, but this one is even better! Glory Harper is a great character. Am looking forward to the next in the series.

Glory Harper is a widowed grandmother with plenty of spunk, and keen sense of humor who is fast earning a reputation for attracting danger. Murder, mayhem, blackmail, arson, and more than a little attraction between Glory and Detective Rick Spencer make for an entertaining light mystery. Every character rings true-to-life and makes the layers of mystery all the more intriguing. I would never have imagined that a story ranging from murder to restoration and forgiveness could also make me laugh out loud. A fun read that keeps you guessing and wanting to go back for more of A.K. Arenz and the bouncing grandma. I have to add that I'm glad it was recommended to me, as the cover would not have attracted me to select it.

I really enjoyed this book as well as the first one. I think if we had more Grandmas like Mrs. Harper, we would have a better world to live in even if she does seem a little "nosy."

Oh dear Bouncing Grandma, Glory Harper is at it again. Right in the middle of a mess! How in the world she gets into these kind of messes, is beyond her wildest imagination, but there she is. While walking with her sister and her new puppy, the puppy makes a grisly discovery. A human hand. The authorities are called, Glory knows immediately who the hand belongs to. A nasty professor at the college where she works. A man always causing trouble. Burned down houses, attempted arson, stifling or trying to intimidate people to vote for ordinances against freedom of religion, womanizing, just what all had the victim been involved in. It was truly looking like his character was worse than everyone thought. Glory and the victim's half-sister keep their eyes and ears open. Unraveling this mess is a big job.While snooping around she discovers things that could implicate some of her friends and even her own family members. Follow along as Glory tries to stay on the right side of the law, while she snoops even further. Watch as romance blossoms between Glory and Blue Eyes, the detective on the case. A really good book, that kept my interest from front to finish. Most definitely a book to share with others. 368 pages $12.99 US 4 stars.A.K. This book is even better than the first in the series. It is funny, entertaining, and a great mystery/suspense. It is a light, fast read, that is enjoyable from start to finish. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Anyone who enjoys a whodunit where almost everyone in town could be a likely suspect will love The Case of the Mystified M.D. Give super-sleuth Glory Harper a hand . . . and sure enough, theres a body close by. Glorys dog drops the hand at her feet. It has the missing professor ring on it so she calls ole blue-eyes, the law in the Missouri town of Tarryton. As usual, Glory collects facts around town as fast as she seems to collect trouble. She gets fired. Her sister gets accused of threatening the professor with a gun. And she uncovers multiple suspects whom the professor had been blackmailing.Get ready for an exciting trip with the bouncing grandma through small town mid America, where nothing is as it seems.
