We began using Singapore math when our children were 5. Our children studied 3A and 3B when they were 7 years old. While that seems young, if one is diligent in working through the previous books, it is very possible to have gained the ability to learn at that rate. Note: Learning math facts through Classical Conversations was a tremendous benefit to our children as they studied Singapore Math. If CC isn't an option, you may wish to give though to learning skip counting songs or something like Kathy Troxel's multiplication fact songs. While this program has required much effort from both child and parent, we have also received great rewards (e.g., mathematical skills, understanding that we are "in this" together and don't quit, etc...). A healthy determination is required.

Easy to follow, low cost math program. My struggling learners and not so struggling learners are able to learn the concepts without the frustration we have had with other programs.

This product is an easy to follow with the other books. It has vibrant pictures and color. We love this product!! This is the second time using this workbook because my first child understood it so well I just had to use it for my next child.

Easy way to review without high cost. My daughters use these books for their charter school and I just continue throughout the summer for review.

Good textbook with challenging workouts, steady progression, repetition and reviews. Each class has it all, it is not overwhelming and no homework is needed. The bad part is the complete absence of colors in the book. For 7-8 year olds, black and white books are a bit boring.

I recently begin to use singapore 3a with my 2 boys: 1 just finish 3rd grade and the other finished 2nd. I did not find that is being any chalenge to them, so far. It does not use some wording that they are familiar, and the book does not use comma to separate place values which confused one of my boys in the beggining. The book is easy to use. I purchase the intense workbook instead of the regular one. I find it a great extra practice and chalenging word problems. I do also use A Beka which is repetive and a little time consuming to follow, however, I like the review, and if I don't need it I just skip it.

Excellent resource. We would give all the Singapore Math books 5 stars! The books are visually clear and easy to understand. I recommend taking the placement test to make accurate book selection. We did and ended up starting in a lower book that I thought we would, but quickly gained speed. Now our child is faster than a calculator and loves math!

For the last 3 years I have tried different curriculums and have had to fight with my son over his math work. Now he asks to do extra! We love Singapore math because there is not any "busy work". You learn the lesson, do your practice pages and then apply it in your workbook. There also are a lot of word problems in this book, which my son loves because then it seems like there is a reaon for his math, not just repetitive drills. I love the word problems because it helps him see how the concept applies in real life.

We have used Singapore math books for home school for 2 years and we love them! They are clear and comprehensive. They offer lots of review without too much drill.
