My church decided to read through the bible in one year and for those who preferred to listen as well we purchased this wonderful dramatized version.
Since then I have passed on copies to family members. The more people we can get to listen to God's word, the better our world will be. We can not listen to God's word being read to us without hearing what God has to say to His people.
Pray for our country to have a revival and returning to God. Our nation is in a cultural decline that only God can repair.

This audio Bible is great. I listen to it with my kids in the minivan and we love it (and its quiet during our drive!) Its amazing how much time a family spends in the car just running errands.

This is the Bible like you've never heard it before. The narration of the characters is so authentic and the voice of God is so surreal. It makes you just want to trust, obey, love him and yearn for a deeper relationship with Him.

I am on the 4th disc and listening while at home and on my way to and from work. It is like you are there... it is wonderful and I am enjoying it very very much. The year's goal was to "read the bible beginning to end" and this is a perfect way to do that.
When I am at home I read along - but it is just as clear while driving along in the car.

This is such a great idea to take a great translation and dramatize the content. I'm looking forward to playing it with my family over our sound system. Then later, we can dig deep into a study, and we'll already have a mental overview. Just think about how how many cultures pass down their rich heritage through verbal stories - to their benefit. Listening to the Bible in this way enriches our Christian experience too! "Faith" comes by hearing the Word of God anyway!
Here's my critical review and opinions:
Many of the voices used here are a little too "religiously" styled and thus poorly read. From any good talent agency, the voice casting director could have selected from tons of professionally trained voice talent who could read even more beautifully. For example, there are online casting services that announce voice-over opportunities for specified talent requirements. Any agency or talant management company reviewing the requirements could submit their best for the job through an audition process.

I'm listening to "LUKE" and there's an older man player reading his character and he's over acting with a waving voice, not very real, but stylish. I'm also listening to a young Jesus explain to his folks that he's going about his father's business with a perfectly trained "middle class all American" boy voice - wow. There are woman voices too that are way too Disney or Sunday school teacher like. There are no projected feelings that place all these players in their contexts. You need professional actors to that.
It would be so much better to cast voices that can read with an actual Middle Eastern Arab or Hebrew dialects - not American. For something as solid (a 70's Hollywood term meaning classic and real) as the NIV translation, this requires only the best. It's such an authentic translation, all the voices should have been too. So when we hear a young Jesus's voice we mentally picture a dusty or sunny middle Eastern setting, not a Sunday School class kid or his teacher.
There is a big difference between styling your production players and stereotyping it. In many cases like this one, stereotyping is better. I can tell from these recording that the main reader is the true hired professional, a really awesome actor, everyone else should have been just chosen in the same manor. This is an authentic Biblical translation that took years of trained professionals develop with every textual word so important. By adding this drama, there's an added dimension to our understanding.
This work is published by Zondervan, an awesome Christian publisher. The targeted audiences must have been just Evangelical Americans, but they could have done even better.

My husband and I are enjoying listening to God's Word on our daily commutes. I like the voices used, music, and pace of the reading. I agree with another reviewer who noted that it would be useful to have a separate list of each CD's content, rather than only having the content listed on the CD itself.
This is a great way to memorize scripture, worship God, and comprehend entire passages in context. Great product.

I am listening to the Bible on my drive to and from work. I listened to the first disc, put the 2nd disc in and it will not play at all. So I will be contacting customer service to see about getting a replacement disc. Disc 3, 4 and 5 are all working. Hopefully there will not be any problems with any more of the 64 discs. Otherwise I am enjoying listening.

Love this product! It is exactly what I was looking for. This is the first time I bought audio cassettes from Christian Book Store and it's a winner as far as I'm concerned! Even when I'm pressed for time, I can still listen to God's word (While I'm driving and relaxing at bedtime; even when I'm too tired to read).
