I was supposed to have reviewed this book last year. I was given a link to an E-Book by Thomas Nelson Publishers and I had some upheaval in my life and just didn't have time to read it and then it expired. I was so bummed. I love just about everything Andy Andrews writes, and couldn't believe I just blew a chance to read this. Then someone was kind enough to give me a Gift Card and I used it to purchase the book. It was worth it.

This is one of those little Coffee Table books, or in my case, a Book Case book. I brought it to work and put it on my bookcase that holds all my binders of meeting minutes and important ongoing projects. I did this so I could remember that Everything I Do, Matters!

If you have never read Andy Andrews, most of what he writes is in allegory format (a truth wrapped inside a story). This was the way Jesus taught most things for a reason. Stories stick with us. I love Andy because he shares little tidbits of history, which I love. One of his favorite people in history is Joshua Chamberlain, a 34-year-old college professor turned Union Army Colonel. This man was given one task during a battle that ultimately changed the course of history for the U.S. Mr. Andrews has given us some of his story in some of his other books like "The Traveler" and The Noticer", but I don't remember him going into as much detail, and I have to tell you, he has turned into one of my favorite historical characters.

This book is not a hard read. It took me about 15 minutes to read it cover-to-cover, but it is a book that everyone should read once, and then again and again as a way to remind ourselves that what we do matters, not just to us or our family, but could have long lasting impact that we can't even see.

I also want to encourage you to put Andy Andrews in your To Be Read list. Motivate yourself and others around you to make everything you do count. It's up to you...Do Something!

I have purchased 5 copies of this book (so far) and given away. I put a note inside that the person should keep until someone comes into their life that needs this book and then give it away! It's a fast read...but oh, so powerful!!! Great book!!

I bought this (and I usually dont buy gift books), because of the cover and the lovely pages. It didnt take long to read, but the message is SO powerful. I lead a very low-key life; I clean houses and drive a school bus route. I often think, who cares whether or not I clean houses well, or drive a school bus wisely and safely?? These are NOT high paying, high profile jobs..but the Butterfly book says that EVERYTHING we do, has meaning, not just for now, but for the future. Please buy this book, not just for yourself, but for anyone who struggles with wondering if their life means anything..

I have read the past two books written by Andy Andrews and was very excited to find this book. The whole basis of the book is along the lines of the butterfly effect spoken of in years past in the scientific community. Basically, that theory stated that if a butterfly flapped its' wings on one side of the world, it could cause a ripple effect that could produce astounding things to take place on the opposite side of the world.

Andy takes that theory and breaks it down in how our lives can cause a ripple effect in time. By the things we do, regardless how small, we can change others which can cause amazing things to be possible.

Some of the places he draws from are the Civil War and the stand made by one man, in the face of certain death...this stand changed the course of history...what would life be like if the South had won? What if there were no United States? Another was the backstory of George Washington Carver...how the sacrifices of others made possible the advances in agriculture he was able to make...

The bottom line is this...the acts we do actually make a difference! If you are down or thinking your life has little meaning in the grand scope of things, read this book. It will take you approximately 15 minutes, but could completely change your outlook on how important your life is!
