The Bible Answer Man Delivers Memorable Proofs for the Divine Inspiration of the Bible

The Bible is under siege with many fundamentalist on the right, like professor Bart Ehrman of the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill, and even President Barack Obama, without hesitation take pot shots at the Good Book, making fallacious arguments against the inerrancy of the text. Hank Hanegraaff, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answer Man radio broadcast, responds to these assertions in his latest book Has God Spoken? Proof of the Bible's Divine Inspiration.

Has God Spoken? is an invaluable resource on demonstrating that the Bible is divine rather than human in origin. In this book, Hank explores the manuscript evidence, which demonstrates that we can say with confidence that the text of the Scripture was faithfully transmitted to us. What we have now is an accurate and faithful reproduction of what was written by the biblical writers.

The way archeology corroborates the peoples, places, and things mentioned in the biblical narrative is also explored in Has God Spoken. Hank highlights key archeological discovers to demonstrate that the Bible is not just a book of fairy tales; rather, it faithfully narrates what had happened in the history of the ancients.

Predictive prophecy is likewise evidence that the Bible is divine rather than human in origin. One of the highlights of the prophecy section of Has God Spoken is Hank's take on the success of nations and abomination of desolations in the Book of Daniel. The Bible Answer Man makes a well reasoned case that God had revealed to Daniel in the 6th century BC things concerning the grand scheme of history that could not have been known otherwise. The Book of Daniel essentially predicted the rise and fall of four great empires (Babylon, Media, Persia, and Greece), the abomination of desolations in the second temple witnessed by the Jewish people during the reign of Antiochus IV Epiphanes, and a glimpse of the coming first century Christ. Hank also demonstrates how the Old Testament points forward to Jesus Christ in both typological and predictive prophecy.

All the facts demonstrating the Bible is divine rather than human in origin are complimented in the final section on Scriptural L-I-G-H-T-S, which offers helpful principles on biblical interpretation. God has indeed spoken; yet, the people need also to learn to read the Bible for all its worth so that they can understand what God has said.

The most helpful element of Hank's new book is the abovementioned points follow the easy to remember acronym MAPS, which stands for Manuscript COPIES (Copyist Practices; Oral Culture; Papyrus and Parchment; Internal Evidence; External Evidence; Science of Textual Criticism), Archeologist S-P-A-D-E (Steles and Stones; Pools and Fools; Assyrian Archaeology; Dead Sea Scrolls; Epic of Gilgamesh), Prophetic S-T-A-R-S (Succession of Nations; Typological Prophecy; Abomination of Desolation; Resurrection; Superstar ABCs), and Scriptural L-I-G-H-T-S (Literal Principle; Illumination Principle; Grammatical Principle; Historical Principle; Typology Principle; Synergy Principle).

Has God Spoken is certainly a book worth a read and something to be kept as a handbook and tool for reading and understanding God's Word.

Has God Spoken? (Proof of the Bible's Divine Inspiration)

    Hank Hanegraaff

This is the third book in a trilogy written by Mr. Hank Hanegraaff a.k.a. The Bible Answer Man. This book was written to give the reader a better understanding of the divine inspiration of the Bible. While I am not a seminary educated believer in our Lord I found this book to be very interesting and educating. Some parts of the book were a little hard to understand but a little research never hurt anyone.

Although I feel that this was an interesting read, I would recommend that the reader have a thirst and a want to learn more. This book is filled with lots of names, places and scripture references that a lay person might not know. For someone who loves to learn and study this would not be a problem. One other thing that was an added bonus was an insert that describes the acronym "M.A.P.S.". The book is split in to five parts. Each part takes a letter from the acronym and digs deeper into the meaning of each letter.

In closing, this book gave me a deeper understanding into the inspiration of the Bible. Further proving that the Bible is "God Breathed" (2Tim 3:16). I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who has a need or want to learn more about the Bible and where it came from. You might have to do a little homework and research a little more, but being a Disciple means becoming a lifelong learner. We all should have an attitude to want to learn all that we can so we can be ready to give the reason for why we believe.

This is very good Christian apologetic book, broaden my perspective.

If it's plain English, it will be even better.

Have you ever wondered whether or not God REALLY spoke the Bible into being? What types are proofs are there? Can it really be proven? What about all the evidence to the contrary? Using the acronym M-A-P-S in his book Has God Spoken?, Mr. Hanegraaff (also known as the Bible Answer Man) puts forth massive amounts of evidence that yes, God really did speak to us through the Bible.

Here's a sneak peek: the M in M-A-P-S stands for Manuscript C-O-P-I-E-S, each letter broken down into sub chapters such as Copyist Practices, Oral Culture, Papyrus and Parchment, Internal Evidence, External Evidence and Science of Textual Criticism. Mr. Hanegraaff goes in depth in all areas, for instance citing under External Evidence the works of Flavius Josephus (the Jewish history), Cornelius Tacitus (born twelve or so years after Christ's death and known as the "greatest historian of the ancient Roman Empire") and Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus (chief secretary to the Emperor Hadrian, who covered Roman history) to name a few. All of the evidence presented in the book is fascinating proof of the divine inspiration of the Bible.

I accepted Christ as a young child and have never had the problem of accepting as fact that God is real, that He is the author of the Bible. However, it is so much fun and so very interesting to sit and read a book such as this and find evidences that go beyond blind faith. If you are a Christian, you will enjoy the evidence presented. If you are not a Christian and you have a chance to read this book, Mr. Hanegraaff's evidence just might convince you to change your mind! Why not give it a shot?

This is definitely another book I will keep in my personal library for future reference and also for loaning to friends and family.

In the beginning, God created all things by His Word. Two chapters later, it is the authenticity, integrity, and meaning of God's Word that is called into question by Satan. And to this day, unbelievers of every kind approach the Scriptures in the same way. Popular pseudo-intellectual unbelievers such as Bart D. Ehrman, Richard Dawkins, and Christopher Hitchens have aggressively attacked the Word of God, attempting to upset the faith of many by asking: Has God really said? How are Christians to respond to the claims of these popular unbelievers, as well as unbelieving friends and family members?

Hank Hanegraaff's newest offering Has God Spoken? seeks to provide Christians of every stripe with a thorough yet readable and user-friendly defense of the authenticity, integrity, and meaning of God's Word. Hanegraaff's book answers questions and criticisms raised against the Divine inspiration of the Bible with evidence from the manuscript data (showing the overall textual purity of the Bible), evidence from archeology (which is both instructed by Scripture and corroborative of Scriptural historical claims), and evidence from fulfilled prophecies. By beginning first with the integrity of the manuscripts then moving on to the historical reliability of the accounts of Scripture, he then lays the Gospel before the reader by presenting Christ as the one to fulfill all prophecies concerning Himself. Which is the main point of all the Scriptures (cf. John 5:39).

Thus, Hanegraaff's book sets out to not merely provide a dry point-by-point refutation of opponents of the Word of God, but also seeks to confirm the faithful in their faith and invite the lost to "come and see" this Jesus, the Word of God, who is the subject of these authentic, compositionally integral, and very meaningful documents which Christians accept as the Word of God. And it does this very well. Hanegraaff's book is not for the specialist per se; therefore, it may not appeal to those who are well versed in the topics aforementioned. However, for Christians who are neither archeologists, nor pastors, nor professors, etc, this book is an excellent resource for personal instruction, edification, and evangelism.
