Zondervan Preaching and Preachers / Special edition - eBook

A classic from one of the most dynamic preachers of this century! Originally delivered as a series of lectures, Lloyd-Jones's essays capture the essence of powerful preaching. His insights on the shape and preparation of the sermon, the preacher's relationship to the congregation, and more will give you much to ponder as you write your next sermon.

This is an amazing book. It addresses the issues that the church faces today in a way that may offend a progressive. If you listen or watch Glenn Beck, you will wonder if Glenn has read this book and talks about this on his show. This book focuses the preacher on God and what the Holy Spirit does in you and through you. Great read

This is a must read for anyone considering entering the ministry or already ordained. For everyone else it is also highly recommended. Few men, if any, in the last century made such an impact from the pulpit as Lloyd-Jones and this is a great opportunity to sit at his feet and glean from his wealthy store of wisdom and insights. But if somebody would republish this great book, PLEASE include an index!

This book is a classic. It gets to the heart of preaching in a culture where preaching has gone in many different, and dare I say some dangerous directions. If you believe in solid biblical preaching as the way to reach people and help them grow in their faith, read this book. It is a great encouragement.

If you want to be a preacher, read this book! If you are a preacher, read this book! If you want to know what preaching is, read this book! Lloyd-Jones is perhaps the greatest preacher in the 20th century (whose sermons you can actually listen to on-line). You probably won't agree with everything he says here (I surely didn't), but there is probably a lot you will love, will learn, and need listen to. I agree with Lloyd Jones '...the most urgent need in the Christian Church today is true preaching; and as it is the greatest and the most urgent need in the Church, it is obviously the greatest need of the world also.

Did you hear the one about the preacher who . . . ? The greatest thing about this book is that it is NOT just a compilation of anectdotes about preachers and preaching. The Dr. doesn't tell you how to prepare, write, and deliver a sermon - not in the technical, "how-to-do-it" sense. But after you read this book, you will be better equipped to prepare, write, and deliver a sermon! Matter of fact, you may even want to increase the numbers of sermons you are allowed to preach!
