I just received the Calfskin bound New Paragraph Bible by Cambridge Bible publishers. I am impressed with the quality of the leather, paper, and print of this Bible. I am glad that I decided to look at this Bible for myself, rather than trusting a bad review. It is possible to get a poor copy that slipped through quality control, and made its way to the retail store. If you do get a copy that does not meet your standards, call customer service, and they will help you resolve your problem. CBD has been awesome in taking care of any problem, (few as they are), for me. I highly recommend this beautiful King James Bible.

May GOD Bless you as you search His wonderful Word, and Praise His HOLY Name.

There are many reasons I regard this edition as superior to all others I have seen.

    1) The paragraph format this edition uses groups prose text into paragraphs largely according to the original paragraph marks of the KJV, marking verses with superscript numbers very much like the format of modern translations. This is a very rare feature for this version and far better than the traditional verse-by-verse indentation, visually connecting related verses and rejoining broken sentences for better flow of thought. It only takes some getting used to. The paragraphs are larger than modern standards, separating situational settings rather than units of thought.

The poetic portions of scripture, primarily Job through the Song of Solomon and much of the prophets, are indented line by line as in free verse, emphasizing their true literary beauty.

    2) Quotation marks have been added to identify speech.

    3) The layout is significantly cleaner with the elimination of cross-references (which, though helpful, clutter) and the center column, the italics (judged by the editor as inaffective), the lining of the footnotes with their base text on one margin without superscript letters in the text body, and the lack of study notes, explanatory subheaders, and introductions. The font is easy to read.

    4) As with most Cambridge Bibles, the Preface from the Translators to the Reader is published, very informative, heartfelt, and rich, written by Mile Gates. Most publishers only include the Dedicatory which ridiculously and inaccurately flatters King James I, likely for his favor.

    5) The editor updated a few spellings and restored others to the original forms, and fixed a few awkward punctuations.

The only downsides are slight: the absence of an economy leather binding option, which would help make this edition affordable for tight budgets, and the lack of a wide margin option, though the inner margin leaves some space between footnotes and the poetic passages even more.

This Bible is the ideal choice for the studious Christian who loves and desires to emphasize the purity, strength, and beauty of the King James Version.

This is a well bound, hard backed King James Bible. The single column format is great. The spelling upgrades, and work done to correct some of the printing mistakes done in the past, makes reading easier. If you like the King James version, this would be a great addition to your library. The binding seems to be very sturdy, and should hold up well to use.

The leather has a smooth and supple feel to it. The font is similar to other personal size bibles. Having two ribbon markers instead of one is a nice plus. I am glad I bought this Bible. And I really like that the apocrypha has been retained as it was in the original KJV. If you don't want the apocrypha retained, there is an edition without it.

I do enjoy the paragraph format and David Norton's desire to capture what the 1611 editors intentions were for God's Word. It's one of my best KJV purchases so far and I thank God for it. Well bound quality leather bible. Hope all would see this as a valuable study tool. God blessings to David Norton for his faithfulness to preserve God's Holy Word.
